Yes, I'm sure the pub will be open til 2am like usual.
I'm sure Clydes will stay open until 1:30 or 2am, as will most of the usual drinking establishments.
When I drove by J Gilberts earlier, their parking lot was packed. But they generally have last call around 10:30-10:45, and try to get people out of there by 11:00 - 11:15.
and of course, there's always DC. I'm not sure if the bars will get to stay open until 3:00 am since tomorrow is a holiday, or not.

Yeah, I guess I should have actually read your post instead of glancing at it.
The pub in mclean will certainly be open. As will most of the other similar "dive bar" type places, I'm sure.
I think Clydes might also be open, as well as some of the bars in Reston Towne Center (I think they only open the bars late in the day, and keep the restaurants closed, if I remember)

I was looking something up related to this and found that VA has a law that requires 45 percent of restaurant sales to be food (annually)... crazy stupid. I love our backwards state.

I should have been more specific bob..I was a cocktail waiter so I knew there are no pure saloons. I was shocked by the 45% rule. I would cap it at 33 tops, 25 more likely.

Oh and according to some article I read VA is ultra-lax about the reporting requirements for food sales... supposedly you have to be born yesterday to honestly report it to the state and it is common knowledge amongst bar owners that the state looks the other way. VA loves to pass strict laws and then ignore them.

PA's liquor laws are way more convoluted and outdated than Virginia's. Taxes are lower here too.

I wanted to meet this guy behind the Chinese Pub at 2:45, and he comes back saying he really meant linwood terrace drive, near Kirby Rd, more than 2 miles from the pub. I waited for 7 minutes behind the pub, and he's now saying I called the cops on him? I saw two cop cars drive by and go into the exxon at Old Dominion and Old Chain Bridge Rd. I went into that exxon to buy a Chicken and Swiss sandwiche and a nachos and cheese, while the cops were hanging out by the coffee.

That place sucks, unless you like to hang out with a bunch of shady, drunken, criminal types. Seriously, the place is trashed and the people act like assholes. The last time I went in there some dude just started flipping out for no reason. He was just shouting and cursing and kept pounding his fists and stomping his feet, screaming so loud it hurt your ears. Finally they told him to calm down and he jumped right up onto the bar and took a few swings at people, all hell was breaking loose. And then on my way out, some other asshole tried to clothsline me.
If that's your idea of a good time, you'll fit right in. Otherwise stay away.

Haha. I don't "hang out" at The PUB. I maybe go in there 4-5 times a year. In fact I haven't even gone to a FFX county bar since the last forum meetup. And The PUB isn't some sleazy dive-bar. It's fairly worn around the edges, but there's nothing dirty or loser-ish about it, and it's not a place where rednecks or white trash hang out. If I had to nominate a local bar that fell into that category, I'd have to say it is JV's, or a place called "Frank's" near East Falls Church, which is now closed.
It'd be funny to see a thread about shithole dive bars, I bet there'd be some funny stories. I love going to places like that.

I hope FU doesn't consider the PUB to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, because that place sucks. It's unfortunate because the place has great potential. The people that go there make it douchebag central and it seems the goal (mainly those that sit at the bar) is to get drunk as quickly as possible and make an ass of themselves.
They do have a good poker game in the back.. I'll give the PUB credit for that.

I've never even been inside, so I am going to go ahead and make a rash judgement just based on the door and sign, shown in a pic posted at some point: the place is a dump.

Yes, it is a dump.
Well, not really a "dump" but it is definitely a bar where you don't walk in and say "I love the ambience". If you like to drink, and you like to bullshit with people and just have a carefree time while having a few beers, you might like it.
It's definitely a place to meet no-nonsense people who dont judge you because you drink. Plus,David, the owner, is really cool. WHen he went to Taiwan after his Father Died, his Wife ran the place for a few weeks, and she was even cooler than David. She got to know everyone and was proud of her sons at Harvard and Yale, one of whom is finishing his Med School this year.

The PUB is not a dump, and trust me, I've hung out in plenty of real shitholes. Go to any small town in PA and stop in one of the neighborhood bars, you'll find some TOTAL dumps- places that give you the creeps and make the PUB seem like a Friday's. The PUB reminds me of the places we used to hang out in back in college, when you only had 20 bucks in your pocket and wanted to party. A fun kinda drinking place where you don't feel the need to impress people. Granted, it's not the McLean Hilton; it doesn't have fancy décor or some kind of theme. It's theme is "drinking some beers and doing some shots", and it does that well.
Also, I've never seen shady behavior or creepy people in there like some others have mentioned- it's in freekin McLean fer chrissakes! That's not exactly the wrong side of the tracks!

I guess I can take back my comment just based on this place Frederick that Genevieve and I go to to watch an old friend play in his band, called "Krug's Place". The bathrooms are not usable for sober individuals, and the external and internal atmosphere is that of a wrecked frathouse.
Actually, a wrecked frathouse may have a clean bathroom. It wa sjust the first analogy I could come up with. Perhaps I will venture to this "pub" tonight and see what is what.

No the Pub is a pretty sleazy place. I just saw a major fight break out in the parking lot over the weekend there. Not the safest place to be.
