The Best Threads of 2008 thread
Posted by: TheMeeper ()
Date: December 20, 2008 03:01PM

My nominations:

1. "Recent Forum Abuses"- this started off as a sticky by Cary, and quickly developed into a highly accusative and retarded trollfest. It got so bad Cary finally de-stickied it.

http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/40/78639/page-1.html

2. "CORRUPTION IN FAIRFAX COUNTY VA"- The return of Colleen Lindvall (who sorta reminds me of Spunky). This was unrelenting and bizarre. I think all of AOL had to get blocked because of her.

http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/121016/page-1.html

And probably the best one....

3. "ALERT, ALERT, ALERT"- LOL, one of the most retarded posts ever to grace FU. The person (obviously a redistrictor) then posted the same kind of warning on a few other sites. I think this spawned the "Recent Forum Abuse" sticky.

Personally, my favorite thread from 2008 was the one about Candy Tisdadt calling the kid back about the snow day. I know I will catch some flack for this but I would have done the same thing. I can't wait until we get out first 2009 snow day/late opening post. those are such fun.

Also I really enjoyed the thread on FU music. I found out about some cool groups/ singers I had never heard of.

Merry Christmas to Meeper!!!

Hugs, Trickie

Yeah, +1 to Lurker for starting the "The FU Radio\Music Channel" thread.

And Merry Christmas to you too, Trickie!

While the Litsa soap opera thread was started in 2007, I think it provided a great deal of entertainment in 2008. Especially when the gal was given a slap on the wrist when all those Navy Moms were screaming for Life in Prison...

LOL, now how could I leave this one off the list.....

http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/103667/103667.html

It's the thread where some guy from ILITechnology.com came on and decided to fuck with us. We immediately figured out his identity and really made a fool out of him.

I remember laughing my ass off all day at work as this thread unfolded. It is too bad that once he realized he was pwn3d, he went back and deleted all of his posts.

This was hilarious. We figured out he was running Craig's List postings to hire illegal immigrants. What a tool!

My nomination is for Awakened's post in the "Why is Westfield HS so bad" thread:
http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/140379/140440.html#msg-140440

Not only does it speak via pictures, which is very original, but it is hilarious and true.

FYI, Pgens was the one behind the 'ModeratEr' character; trying to fuck w/ people by pretending to be Meeper and then insinuating Alias was DeathByCop.

The Zumba thread was hands down the best. It started in the early days of 2008 and only lasted a day or two, but that thread makes me laugh every time I read it.

I have to vote for the Zumba thread also, that had me cracking up. Especially the part where the original poster kept trying to salvage the reputation of Zumba.

The amazing thing that it appears to be a favorite - and it was started on 1/2/2008 - the best one of the year may have been one of the first of the year...

We also need a word of the year or phrase of the year. Kinda like the American Dialect Society that professed "Plutoed" and "Prairie Dogging" as words of the year in the past.

I'd like to nominate "upper decker" as the FXU word/phrase of 2008.

This was another 2008 thread where someone thought he was a l337 h4x0r and got toally pwn3d, possibly fired. The thread may read weird, bu that is because "SinMiedo" edited out all the info he gave that led to his pwn4g3.

I wasn't really following the board while that happened and still can't figure out what was going on.

"Upper decker" is something I haven't really heard since college and it's sorta funny it came up on here this year. I guess it will be 2008's phrase of the year, surpassing 2007's "under the plasma" (sorry Inka).

LOL, yeah, someone figured out he was posting from a DoD site and he immediately got scared and left. He also was posting under the name "USMCSniper" for awhile and was the object of flame wars from the start. He actually appeared at the end of that ILITechnology.com thread, which is still my fav. It sucks when people go back and erase all of their comments!

Ah, I thought you were speaking of "Moderator" in general. And I was in no way trying to say I was Meeper and in fact posted the opposite. I know you have some writing and language issues and thought you mistyped with "ModeratEr." I wasn't aware you also had reading comprehension problems, as you don't seem to understand what you quoted me as saying.

Why are you suddenly attacking the regulars? Back to the 'ole self again? Good way to start the new year! Stopping the meds shouldn't have been the New Years resolution, but I do hope you get the help you need.

Well...I have to say that you have confirmed what I have suspected all along, you have no taste since you haven't recognized not one of the great threads I started, which some were later followed up by the Washington Post. None of the ones you have mentioned thus far have that to their credit...DUH! HA! HA! HA!

But then when you're dealing with morons what do you expect? Incompetence!

By the way that word of the year is so yesterday! Wake-up! How about, "New World Order"?

Oh yea, in anticipation of your rude and vulgar comments, "Bite-me"!

I just can't believe the level some people will go to when they are fearful of others. These are just words too and we are supposedly dealing with adults? This is yet another post deleted.

This shows when I posted to this thread but my post was deleted, but the proof is here along with the partial post from the search feature.
