Woman Complains about "Helpless Women" Video Game Depictions, Runs to Males Threatened

Anita Sarkeesian posted, with the help of a Kickstarter campaign, a series of videos documenting many examples of misogynist depictions of women in video games, going all the way back to Donkey Kong. In excruciating detail, she describes several tropes in video games, such as women sexualized background, women who are depicted as in need of male help or rescue, women sexualized even in death poses where males are not, etc.
Her points are interesting and I will probably now think of her points in video games from now on when I see or play them.
But when she was threatened online, she fell right into the depiction she professes to hate... she called the male police to come save and protect her. It really would have suited her cause better had she posted that she purchased a firearm or two for protection and has been trained in their use.
So her reaction there, too, will be considered when I see a woman in a video game.

I really wish she had provided a real-life example of what it means to be a self-sufficient and powerful woman who doesn't need a knight to save her from the dragon. It isn't too late of course, maybe she'll do it.
