Really, the most horrible area of Fairfax. Its just so awful and depressing there. Boring. Horrible. Just awful! I love Alexandria and many other places in the area. Just Reston sucks so bad.

Reston Town Centre isn't bad.

It's in the middle of nowhere, filled with narcissistic bmw drivers.

Tysons, Arlington, and Alexandria are MUCH better.

Lol, how is Reston much different than Arlington, Tysons, or Vienna?

I lived in Reston for two months once in the early 90's.

Had a nice townhouse, nice woods, nice lake, but it was sterile, boring and miserable.

I would rather live in Annandale any day.

That's true, it is in the middle of nowhere. However it was rate the number one location for young people in Virginia. Also you have to be fair, Tysons is full of narcissistic wankers as well.

Hey man, there's worse places in the Northern Virginia suburbs. Ever been to nearby Herndon? Or how about Fairfax City? Dare I mention Manassas Park? Reston is a great little town. I suppose it depends on your age and interests. I'm guessing you're what, fifteen? Sixteen, maybe?

We are close to the city, we don't have to pay a monthly community fee. You can bike, walk, or take the metro to most places.

The problem with many of these places is they're either full of snotty twenty and thirty-somethings or are infested with hipsters.

I don't feel as though there's enough of a difference between any of these places to say that I hate one place in Fairfax County and love another. Is it not all housing and shopping centers, more or less?

At least in Fairfax City you can still smoke in bars.

You can show me around. I've lived here for almost a decade now and the only place I've bothered with is Bungalow Alehouse. I've heard dodgey things about some of the more popular pubs.

Have you been to the riverside at Occoquan? It is a fun place to hang out, pubs or not.

Anything in Hoodbridge could be considered dodgy but there are likely a few hidden gems. Anything in Old Town Manassas is good, it's about four or five blocks is a nice place to hang out. Trains pass by in the daytime.

Living in Arlington can be fun, same with living in the Reston area. I did enjoy the time spent in Arlington. Both have ups and downs. To be Honest, This area was better about 15 years ago.

Tims and the Occoquan scene are what I've heard are dodgey. It's either one of two things, the food or the bouncers. I recommend Mad Fox for their beer, their food is lackluster, and Public House No.7 for a traditional English pub. Both are in Falls Church.

Just a buncha drunk rednecks, mostly harmless though. Just don't go pickin' any fights and you'll be okay. I'd say it's more likely to get into some trouble anywhere in DC than it is in Occoquan.

Mad Fox is good, I've never been to Public House No. 7, maybe I'll check it out when I'm out from hibernation.

Tim's is an easy place to drink and eat, I've never had a problem there, Then again i'm not an asshole.

I have to agree with OP. Out of all the towns and cities of Fairfax, Reston is just the most vapid, soul-less town of them all. Its sort of like a strip mall and an office building had sex and out came Reston.

Reston is dreadful, buying a house here was a huge mistake. At first glance, it looks like a utopia, full of trees and walking paths, once you move here the reality hits that that you have to pay an additional almost $700 per year to the Reston Association for those paths and seasonal use of overcrowded public pools. Oh, and that $700 is in addition to your HOA fees. It's not the hipsters that bother me (I'd love to come across a hipster, at least we'd get a record store and a decent coffee shop)it's the miserable, zombie like elderly (I don't know what happens to people once they turn a certain age around here, they must be lacing their water with something that makes them docile and cranky) and the stuck up yuppies that one encounters on a constant basis and there's a total lack of culture. It's mostly full of strip malls and chain restaurants. What at first glance seemed so lovely is actually not much better than the truck stop towns one encounters while on long road trips.

There is nothing cheap about Wayfarers. They are at least $125, prob $150.

It was cool until all of Guadalajara moved in.
