I have to agree. This is all part of a set up, with the fossil John McCain preempting the leak they knew was coming, and now its distract and divide instead. While I don't think Barry will do much besides maybe bombing a few key targets from the air, this is ultimate Wag the Dog material.

It's a no win deal for us.
We're going to spend a bunch of money.
Probably have some of our folks killed.

Oh, there's no question. Assad's forces will be neutralized within a matter of weeks. There are only two very small possibilities that may avert that. An all out attempt at reconciliation and regime change on the part of the regime or Russia threatening to also enter the conflict.

We've been supplying the "rebels" with weapons for almost a year (that is why Stevens was in Bengahzi meeting with the Turks).
@ Gerry/Alias: Assad is currently kicking ass. He has reinforcements via Iran's proxy Hezbollah, who have taken back almost all the gains the "rebels" had made over the past 6 months and pushed them out of Damascus.
Sad and scary that uninformed fools get to vote. Thus, the current turdpile this country has become.

Bill Clinton talked up a day or so ago and said Obama would be a "wuss" not to intervene in Syria. Obviously he had inside information and was helping to set the stage.
U.S. troops will probably never hit the ground in Syria, but we will take sides and arm some very questionable rebels.
Hey, maybe we can do a weapons buy-back program in 2015 or so, I am sure they will be happy to see us and very cooperative.
