RICHMOND--Democratic attorney general candidate Creigh Deeds was endorsed by the National Rifle Association yesterday.
Deeds, a state senator from rural Bath County, sponsored the amendment to the state's Constitution that protects the right to hunt and fish. His Republican opponent, Del. Bob McDonnell, did not support that amendment.
In a letter announcing its endorsement, the NRA singled out Deeds' support for hunting and fishing as one reason he got the endorsement, and praised his record on gun issues in general.
The NRA gave Deeds an A rating, and gave McDonnell--who has supported a number of pro-gun initiatives--an A-minus.
