How hard is it to Elect a Pope?

I'm sure there are strict requirements, but when it takes this long, it just shows how political the Vatican can be.

Black smoke rising from a chimney above the Sistine Chapel indicated that their ballot had been inconclusive.

The 115 cardinal-electors will vote four times daily until two-thirds can agree on a single candidate.

The election was prompted by the surprise abdication of Benedict XVI. There is no clear frontrunner to take over from him as head of the Church.

The vote was the first held by the cardinals since they entered the conclave on Tuesday afternoon, and was not expected to produce a positive result.

You get a bunch of boy scouts to parade through the papal palace. One troupe usually does the trick.

The more important question is, will this be the last Poop elected?

This guy wants to make sure he gets a good shot of the new Poop with his 1200-1700mm nikon lens.

I just hope the new Popemobile is a sweet ride. Maybe a Camaro/Mustang convertible for the Pontiff.

This will give you an idea of the zooming focal length of that lens. All pics are the same scene and location, just zoomed in.

First pic is at 50mm

Second is at 1200mm

Third is at 1700mm

You can tell how long it will take by the number of Papa John pizzas delivered.

the drawn out process is really important to stir up anticipation in hopes of strengthening the community and bringing back those who have become "lost".
