Stephen King writes about republicans AHHHHHHH
Posted by: Atom ()
Date: April 30, 2012 07:47AM

The majority (of the rich) would rather douse their dicks with lighter fluid, strike a match, and dance around singing “Disco Inferno” than pay one more cent in taxes to Uncle Sugar.

.....

here’s what rich folks do when they get richer: they invest. A lot of those investments are overseas, thanks to the anti-American business policies of the last four administrations.

.....

(republicans) They simply idolize the rich. Don’t ask me why; I don’t get it either, since most rich people are as boring as old dead dogshit. The Mitch McConnells and John Boehners and Eric Cantors just can’t seem to help themselves. These guys and their right-wing supporters regard deep pockets like Christy Walton and Sheldon Adelson the way the little girls regard Justin Bieber.

.....

Mitt Romney has said, in effect, “I’m rich and I don’t apologize for it.” Nobody wants you to, Mitt. What some of us want—those who aren’t blinded by a lot of bullshit persiflage thrown up to mask the idea that rich folks want to keep their damn money—is for you to acknowledge that you couldn’t have made it in America without America.

.....

Scrooge changed his tune after the ghosts visited him. Marie Antoinette, on the other hand, lost her head.

They're quotes from the article, And I had to do them one at a time because my browser kept crashing.

I know, King's a horrid writer, I wonder how he's sold millions of books.

I know it's tough when you have no real rebuttal. I'm sorry the uber wealthy made you their bitch.

Moron.

A "rebuttal" to trying to pander to blind American populism with talk of "dousing his dick with lighter fluid"?

It boils down to a simple economic philosophy.

You are a failure and you are jealous. A creative Hollywood wanker says some funny things - you feel good.

The government squanders taxpayer dollars.

IF the government raises taxes, the money is not spend any more wisely.

IF the government raises taxes, the money does not go to you.

IF the government raises taxes, it does not create jobs.

If you would rather leer at your wealthy neighbor with envy than think of ways to create your own wealth- good luck!

Steven King ain't Hollywood. He's east coast all the way.

I'd rather their money went to elementary schools than three dozen cars collecting dust in a giant underground garage.

I do create my own wealth. I started my buisness from scratch.

America provided me a foundation for that succes, and that ain't free.

The uber wealthy, and I'm not talking about someone who gets paid a few hundred grand a year; I'm talking about the people pumping tens of millions into tax shelters. Are not just successful, they are greedy. They are pushing us towards a dark age (but they'll loose.)

The wealth disparity is the number one issue hindering our economy. Über rich sitting on tens of millions of dollars is economically inefficient. It takes that cash out of play (except for the car elevator installers.). It's one of the principle drivers behind the fed printing up cash.

Youve bought it hook line and sinker Nutts. Maybe, one day, you can swallow your pride and think for yourself.

What changed Nutts?

Got laid off? Wife left you?

Kids hate you? Were you the victim of something.

I'm always curious about the disenfranchisement that causes a jump to the dark side.

So, you are angry that some Republicans got rich and you didn't? What's wrong with admiring people who were smart with their money and invested wisely? Why are they the enemy now, because you weren't smart enough?

It's not the wealth, it's the greed. There's a big difference.

Owning a farrari is great. Good for you, I love fast cars. Owning 5 super cars and paying 14% taxes is greed.

I'm angry that the wealthiest use that wealth to cheat. They are basically stealing from the middle class.

I for one don't care about teh wealth the Donald Trumps of the world have. I don't understand this whole Atom/Occupy mindset. Perhaps they missed an important life lesson that I learned in kindergarten - Life ISN'T fair. Here's a novel concept, how about being content with what you have.

The Occupy movement was as wrong as the Tea Party.

The error of both groups was trying to make a grey world black or white (really, no race pun intended, please focus.)

The world doesn't have to be fare. But the uber wealthy exercise a conflict of interest in our society that results in a wealth disparity that is effecting our economic efficiency.

When you pull money out of the economy, and sit on it, it restricts liquidity. You cant argue with that, its a solid as gravity. Amassing insane wealth, and manipulating the system with that wealth, is like poring molasses on what should easily be the most fantastic economy in the world.

Hey Atom........ever wonder why it is that "uber wealthy" like King keep jumping out front and making an increase on your taxes look like a parade?

He IS part of the uber wealthy, idiot. At least $200,000,000 worth. Think any of that is invested overseas? Of course it is.

Why is it such a terrible crime to admire what the "rich" have done with their lives? Do you really sit in your parents basement and dream of the days when you too could work for minimum wages and retire on Social Security?

Let me try to clarify your point.

You are saying that this article by King, and Buffet's call for higher taxes on the rich, are actually a left wing conspiracy to make us all happy about paying higher taxes?

That's some good spinning there. kudos.

Again, there's nothing wrong with admiring the rich. My business is completely disposable so I depend on my clients glut of income. There is something wrong with the rich using their wealth to manipulate the system at everyone's expense.

And I am pissed that I've been paying into Social Security since I was a toddler (my mom pimped me out as a child actor/model, but that's another story) and there is no way that system will be around when I'm an old fart. But who wants to retire anyway.

I've been retired for ten years and love it. No alarm clock, no boss, no deadlines to meet. No need to go out on the roads until after 9:30 a.m.
and be back home by 3:00 p.m. to stay out of heavy traffic. Retirement is
great. You should try it sometime.

You'll never have a Ferrari if you can't spell Ferrari. Tht 14% you refer to is the capital gains tax. Doubling said tax, like is being proposed is not only taxing the same money twice but would also go along way to stifling private investment in our economy. Seems to me a business owner should know something like that. How's about less money gets flushed down the govt toilet, that would work too.

He manipulated his salary at Baine. He manipulated the system. like that guy in Florida who adopted his girlfriend to manipulate the system.

Sorry about the typos, I'm doing this from my phone. And I'm too big picture for spelling and grammar (we all have our faults) but I try.

I would love to take a bunch of cash from investors, but I started my buisness after 2008 and there wasn't much cash following to startups that year. Besides a little CC debt at the very beginning, I raise capital by grabbing more clients. It takes longer but I don't have to ansewer to anyone.

I do agree with your last point. We need to increase the size of government by 50,000 auditors and get rid of use it or loose it budgets. But just because you don't like the system doesn't mean you can cheat the system.

Just because you think 55mph is too slow doesn't mean you can drive how ever fast you want (I try though.)

Fire starter is a great book, so is needful things and hearts in Atlantis.

Whatever..... who cares if he's making it up or not. The point is that if too much wealth is concentrated then it doesn't go back into the economy and you then have a stagnant economy.

Consider that, depending on who you listen too, American companies are sitting on about $2 trillion in cash and other liquid assets. If those companies decided to spend just 1/3 of that over the next year that would be a HUGE injection into the economy. Talk about getting things kick started.

No-ones dissing the rich, but the trend is that the wealth they accumulate is increasing and the difference between the classes is getting wider and wider. The facto that the GOP treats the Buffet bill as a debate is sad. With the debt we're in we can't turn to the super rich and ask them to pay more than their secretary???!

The super wealthy have benefited from their businesses in America, the least they can do is give back via more reasonable taxes (speaking of which, taxes are lower now than they were under Clinton).

Atom writes from the perspective of a level headed financial planner....its the GOP extremists in this forum who can't accept him.

But that would mean that they do actually have suffient funds and need to just use them better.

Its much more fun to just be jealous and hate people and ignore the fact the rich and business is hording money because they are being targeted and are using it as a rainy day fund from the uncertainty of how much will be demanded of them

Americans earn their money with the understanding that they must pay taxes on their earnings. Every elementary school kid knows the score.

Some choose to work the system. Republicans are responsible for many of the tools to work the system.

Republican tricks are getting old. Everyone knows their playbook.

You wonder why you don't see David Copperfield anymore? Because his tricks won't fool anyone in today's digital age. Republicans and dictators are running into the same problem.

If what you say is true, why hasn't your fearless leader done anything about it since taking office?

Wouldn't it have made more sense to close loopholes and raise tax revenues right out of the gate?

He had the power to do it in the beginning with the full backing of Congress..........yet he didn't. Health care that no one can afford was more important?

Seems to me if what you claim to be true is, and the cheaters had been rounded up and soaked for all their ill gotten gains, wouldn't that have produced enough cash to avoid a recession AND pay for free health care?

Why didn't he do it? There's something you're not being totally honest about isn't there?

First of all, tax reform is the most boring thing any president would want to tackle, much less someone like Obama with all the momentum he had. When most people elected Obama I think tax reform wasn't on top of the list of things to do.

Don't forget about the sequence of events. AFTER Bush put us in debt with wars, medicare plan D, and new tax breaks Obama came into office and all the sudden all you heard the GOP talk about WAS THE DEBT. Like things had to change now! They decided it was time to solve that on Obamas' watch, not on Bushs' (which begs your point, why didn't Bush do it?).

So now with the focus on debt reduction, Obama's proposal was $3 trill. in spending cuts and $1 trill. of tax increases. GOP said no way because of the Norquist Oath. So, now in present time Obama continues to try to find a balance of spending cuts and tax increase (including closing loopholes and tax increases themselves).

There you have it. If the GOP wasn't so beholden to the Tea Party (extremists) and some BS pledge signed 15 years ago we wouldn't have the gridlock we have now.

What happened to the signature Obama issues of--

* No earmarks

* Transparency, posting legislation online

* Working across the aisle

* Getting lobbyists out of the administration

I could forgive some of these things if the economy was at least decent, but it sucks shit and Obummer owns it, regardless of all the blame he passes.

I'm with you there Nutts.

I'm blaming Mcconnell and his "get the darkie out" campaign.
