The White House is rejecting the latest proposal from House Republicans over the fiscal impasse. "The President has said repeatedly that Members of Congress don't get to demand ransom for fulfilling their basic responsibilities to pass a budget and pay the nation's bills," a White House spokeswoman said. Separately, President Barack Obama will meet with House Democrats at the White House on Tuesday afternoon.

Supposedly, the government has cash on hand and expected cash flow to meet $ 127 billion in payments. It won't be too long. Maybe 2 to 4 weeks.

Why do the Democrats keep dragging this along? Why do they keep rejecting everything. It seem like its the Democrats fault now for not budging.

Why not? Obama launched his career in the living room of an unrepentant terrorist.

The House bill and the Senate bill aren't too far apart. Same delay in debt ceiling. Negotiations by January over what cuts will replace next round of automated cuts imposed by the Sequester. The House has a 2y delay in medical device tax.

From what I heard last night on Al Jazeera TV, the debt ceiling date is a bunch of horseshit. There is plenty of money appropriated already to meet any obligations due on 10/17.

It's a shame we have to go to an Al Quida TV network to get the real story!

Pretty good actually. I can still put gas in my Porsche Cayanne and take off on a mini-vacation and not miss a paycheck. Not my fault Leadership can't get its act together.

I can still work on my IT project, be late, have errors, and still keep working and billing.

Boehner's House passes. Reid's Senate debates. Cruz filibusters. Last-minute vote in the Senate. Obama signs Friday.

This is the kind of process where congress sneaks things into these bills since so much attention is focused on getting it done at the last minute.

As long as I am paid, put 1,000 riders in there, who cares

I got a two week paid vacation where I was told I could not even turn on my work phone or computer. Things are good, things are real good. Too bad for the schmucks who had to work through all of this, thanks for watering the plants, losers.

Of course whatever they come up with is just temporary, we'll be back here in a couple of months.

Looks like I'll be off through the weekend, getting fat cash the whole time. HA!

Thank you Congress, I appreciate that paid vacation. Better yet, I telework today so i am not expected in the office anyway and will take Friday as a day off since I have so much leave. Thank you again to Congress, and thanks to the taxpayer for paying for my vacation.

Maybe this time these stupid government workers will try to actually save a few extra dollars so we dont have to see them whining and crying every night on the news that they are going to debtor's prison and their kids have to quit the private music lessons.

No they won't. They were rewarded for their incompetence by getting back pay, why would they worry about saving anything?

Whatever, I'm getting a fat paycheck and I did nothing for it, better than welfare.
