Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Backed my car out of driveway (Nissan Maxima, earlier model) while on main road, loss complete power for about 5 secs. electrical (lights, ignition etc.) then just as quickly lights and heater went on. Perculiar smell, almost an electrical arching smell in vehicle. Checked main battery cables, secure and tight, clean. Serpent. belt secure, but odor seems to be in that area. What do you think?

If your driveway isn't level with the roadway, my suggestion would be a worn cable/wire that momentarily touched the cars ground while the vehicle was twisted. It could have moved away from ground once you were in the road or it could have simply burned in two.
If the driveway is level....fucked if I know. Sell it quick.

The vehicle was in a twisted position coming off a turn, I think your correct, I remember an unlevelness before this happened and regained power pulling over a curb to get it off the road elevating the passenger side. Thanks, I'll go with your suggestion. Thanks again.

A gerbil up my ass caused a late model Nissan to malfunction. Interesting.

maybe cam position sensor but if you check engine light isnt on then i would think its the alternator. cam sensor typically will cause engine light to come on unless its too intermitinent of a proble for the cars computer to turn the light on.
