Bachmann - Never EVER Rasie the Debt Ceiling!
Posted by: BochedMan ()

Humm... Once you incur debt you have an obligation to pay, how stupid is she!

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/07/michele-bachmann-no-boehner-debt-ceiling-plan-for-me.php

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) says Speaker John Boehner's latest plan to raise the debt ceiling days before the nation defaults on its debts doesn't have what it takes to get her support. Bachmann has said unequivocally that she won't vote to raise the nation's borrowing limit, despite the looming threat of default, and it seems that Boehner's plan to unite his caucus and get the crisis ended hasn't moved her to change her mind.

"This Republican will not vote to raise the debt ceiling," Bachmann told reporters at an Iowa presidential campaign stop, according to ABC News. "My colleagues will have to come to their own conclusion."

It's not a huge surprise that Bachmann would opposed Boehner's plan. She's made refusing to vote for an increase in the debt ceiling a key tenet of her campaign so far, and polls have shown GOP primary voters like what she's selling.

How many times did Obama vote to raise the debt ceiling?

How many times was the debt ceiling raised under the Republican Lord and Savoir, Ronald Reagan?

Fourteen...

The Republican modus operandi and "golden formula" for economic growth is to incur more debt and lower taxes.

Actually, I attempted to answer but I was wrong. It was actually EIGHTEEN times, not fourteen. For a total of 199%. My bad.

EDIT: Based on 3 minutes of research, Obama never voted to raise the debt ceiling. Boehner and Cantor however have voted at least three times to raise the limit.

Double standards are everywhere.

Why didn't the President vote to raise the debt limit if it is such an important issue?

Umm, maybe because Bush "went to the well" seven times to have the limit raised in order to fund bullshit wars?

Because it was a protest vote. I'm sure if there was actually a chance of the debt ceiling not being raised without his vote, he would have supported it.

You're sure? How can you be sure? Even if you can be sure, it is a pretty weak argument. He gets to log his protest vote because he can get away with it as there were enough Ds and Rs to cancel out his tomfoolery and idiocy?

That's not leadership. Not even close.

How many times does this have to be explained to you? Are you intentionally stupid?

Do you intentionally answer questions with questions rather than backing up your own bullshit?

Really, Hank? Seriously?

I started in this thread with a question, right?

How did you respond?

Let me refresh your memory from about 40 minutes ago. Please try and keep up.

Now, to the bullshit charge. It is very easy to claim you would have done it differently 5 years later and that he had reason x or reason y. I prefer to take the man at his word from the day he made the vote. Below, you will find the full text of his speech on the matter. Point to his claims about the wars, or that he would do it differently if his vote counted.

From March 16, 2006 on the Senate floor:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.

Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.

Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities.

I responded to your weak augmentative technique with a question and answering that very same question myself.

I see a lot of questions being asked but little to no attempt to formulate an intelligent response or argument aside from some handy cut n'paste. Which took you 40 minutes to dig up...

What were some examples of the failure of leadership that necessitated the debt ceiling increase cited in Obama's remarks on the Senate floor? Here's an answer: Bush's unfunded and unjustified wars and his vaunted tax cuts. It's an unpopular opinion to express that as an answer, even today and especially while the "war" on terrorism on two fronts was in full tilt.

Yea, fault me for tying to teach people to fish rather than eat the spoonfed BS they get here.

Yeah. It took me 40 minutes. Not really, but you can continue to pretend, because it makes you feel better. The question is why you didn't know for 5 years now. Somebody does need fishing lessons.

THe man was a US Senator with ample opportunity to express those very points, yet he didn't.

Like all scumbags in Washington, he wants to be re-elected. However, I'll also say that his strategy and tactics to avoid getting run down by the express train of patriotic and anti-terrorist fervor worked when it came to being elected to the Presidency. He didn't come across like a crackpot crank like you-know-who.

You might not like chess but it's the game Obama plays. Not the game of checkers that Bachmann and Walsh are playing with the requisite fear mongering and pandering to the FOX News-watching, Walmart hippie simpleton crowd that lap up their bullshit without question.

Also, you probably already know this, but the crowd on here on FFXU isn't interested in the Socratic method. Shift your aim and tactics a little to the left of the bell curve.

Hank, shut the fuck up about his methods. He may use those he pleases to expose your foolishness.

As for the debt ceiling, I am in favour of reducing it by $300B/yr.

Suck my cock you anonymous cunt. It's your cognitive dissonance over voting for George Bush in three elections that is creating this fucking mess in Congress.

Hank, I've voted third party with the exception of Ron Paul and AG Cuccinelli. However, I have resolved not to vote in any future elections because I do not wish to lend an iota of legitimacy to this system of government. When I move to NC in a month or two and get my driver's license, I won't be registering to vote.

My money is where my mouth is, more than can be said about you and your alleged sexual attraction toward me. Hardly does not need the Socratic method to expose your foolishness.

NoVA has been a great beneficiary of government largesse. Furthermore, there may be a price to pay for offending the ruling party, therefore many have made a habit of putting honey on their tongues.

There may actually be common ground between us... Well, except for voting for Cuccinelli. As a social LIBERTARIAN (not to be confused with social liberal), guys like him make me bristle.

Unless you're between 5-0 and 5-4 tall and less than 110 pounds with a real vagina between your legs, I'm not attracted to you.

With regards to putting my money where my mouth is, talk is cheap, especially here. I don't believe a word that is read here and if you're as smart as you think you are, you wouldn't either. This is the perfect playground to rouse the rabble.

Only reason I voted for Cuccinelli was because he had the endorsement of the Campaign for Liberty. Won't make that mistake twice.

As for believing what is written on here, everything is taken with enough grains of salt so as to cause hypertension.

If you have a good accountant, a very low one.
