CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Clayton County police have released sketches of the two male suspects wanted for abducting 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez during an early morning home invasion.
GBI activated a Levi's Call for Perez about 4 a.m. Tuesday. She's described as 4 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 93 lbs. Ayvani has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing blue-and-gray Star Wars pajama bottoms and a blue-and-gray superhero shirt, authorities said.
Police say the apparent home invasion happened about 2 a.m., when the suspects broke into the home located in the 3800 block of Brookgate Drive in Ellenwood. The residence is part of the Brookgate subdivision.
The mother heard some commotion, called 911 and tried to hide her two children – Ayvani and her 15-year-old brother. Police say that's when the mother came face to face with the suspects, who demanded money and jewelry from her.
When she told the suspects that she didn't have any, police say the suspects shot the family's dog. They then took Ayvani and fled the scene in a gray Dodge or Chevrolet Impala, police said.
The men who police say took Ayvani are believed to be armed and wore dark clothing. No other details were immediately available.
FOX 5's Carolyn Ryan reports that the family dog is alive.
Friends and family gathered on Tuesday night to pray that Perez makes it home safely. Friends say the small girl made a big impression to others in the Hampton community where she grew up.
Investigators do not believe the family knew the men who left with Perez. The family had just moved into the community in Ellenwood from Dutchtown.
Anyone with information concerning Ayvani or the suspects' whereabouts is asked to call 911 or their local law enforcement immediately. Clayton County police can be reached at 770-477-3513.
The article doesn't mention it but the website provides a police sketch of the suspects. Take a wild guess at what their description would've been if the media had bothered to report it. Thankfully the girl was found alive an hour or so ago:
