STERLING, Va. - Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Dulles International Airport say that they have arrested a Nigerian man for internally smuggling heroin at the airport on Saturday.
54-year-old Rasheed Adewale Martins released 97 heroin pellets that had a total weight of 3 pounds and 2 ounces, or 1,431.6 grams. The heroin had an approximate street value of $100,000.
According to court documents, there were inconsistencies found in his interviews on Wednesday in Paris, France. X-rays confirmed the presence of foreign objects inside Martins' body.
Martins and the heroin have been transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents.
Nearly three months ago, CBP officers arrested two other Nigerians within two weeks of each other. Between 88 and 100 heroin pellets were found in the possession of each man—totaling around seven pounds and 15 ounces, and about a total street value of $250,000. Both of these men are being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

I knew a guy who brought back about an ounce of hash from Lebanon like that one time. Seemed hardly worth it, being the penalty in Leb is probably lashes and years of hard labor and probably some very annoying probation at least in America.

I'm betting that the inconsistency wasn't noticed until he was questioned here in the states and they compared what he had told the French to what he had just told our customs agent. The real issue here is that our journalists can no longer write accurate and easily understandable articles. That sentence in the article makes it sound like they interviewed him multiple times in France, found an inconsistency, X-rayed him and saw the foreign objects, then put him on the plane to the US. I highly doubt that's what happened but when the writer doesn't care enough to fully explain the situation we are all left to make assumptions.
How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
