Must have started as a grease fire, we are talking about NJ.
From watching the videos the fire department is lacking engines and man power and was not in any rush to put the ice cream shop out before it spread to 12 other buildings. They were just casually walking around.

I noticed that too. At one point I only saw 3 fire hoses on the fire. CNN just reported 60% of the fire fighters around there were getting drunk at a convention in Wildwood NJ.
Odd that they brought in no fire boats from NY, they could have had 30,000 gallons per minute with 2 boats within 2 1/2 hours once the call was made and put it out or had it under control .

Didn't he have some kind of bypass surgery or something?
Apparently a few hundred cheesesteaks bypassed the bypass.

He actually had the band installed. He didn't want to have any of the other riskier processes performed. I'll bet within a year, he has the band removed and goes for one of the actual bypass operations. Either that, or his doc better inject some more saline into the band to lock down that intestine a bit more. Christie was interviewed as he arrived at the scene and he said "I feel like I'm going to throw up". Those were his actual words.
Back to the fire. I read that 32 businesses on the boardwalk had been destroyed and even more businesses as the fire spread. The flames were being fanned by winds and the fire under the boardwalk kept erupting. Since the fire was burning from under the boardwalk, it was harder to get enough water on the right areas. 400 firefighters are apparently present on the scene.
I think the idea suggested above by having New York's fire boats assist would have been a great move. Sad they didn't use them.
