A Question for Muslims

I know the term "Allah u Akbar" means "God is great". But when precisely do Muslims use the expression in the context of everyday conversation?

I ask this because the term has come to be associated in the US with terrorism. But this is a misunderstanding because it is a term that has existed for centuries.

Recently on Fox there was an excerpt where one of the Fox News hosts was critical of US policy supporting the rebels in Syria because they yelled out "Allah u Akbar" when they shot down a Syrian airforce plane. John McCain said that if a Christian were to say "Thank God" it would not have an ulterior meaning. I take his point but it was not a good analogy because Christians use the term in everyday situations. So I come back to my question as to whether Muslims use the term as part of everyday usage?

I think it would benefit open-minded Americans as to a term that appears to be misconstrued.

In the name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful.
May the peace and Blessings of Allah "god the all mighty" be upon you and your familes and great nation of liberties.

A prophetic hadith, which is a narration of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and all the prophets of God the Almighty.

Verbatem: When one or anything ascends and goes up, he only thinks he going up but Allah is the Most High and rose off this world and left behind his mercy "Water". And when going down Subhan Allah which means " All Glory is for Allah"

It is supported by this verse in the quran which is beuatiful if one only reflects.

Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
- Quran 21:30

He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together.
Quran 55:19

Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress.
Quran 55:20

Also a very nice video to go along with the verse.

Growing up as a Muslim. I never once heard Allah Akbar in the house. I think it's a word fanatics and mullah's use at the mosque.

I consider myself an agnostic now. Seeing how hypocritical and judgemental Muslims in my family and surroundings were..I was completely turned off to religon.

All religions are equally crap imo..

"Allah Akbar" is the equivalent of saying, "Oh mah Gawd"

Most of the Muslims I did not attend because they thought the gathering, while meant to support of America, was in poor taste.
