Two Colorado state lawmakers who supported gun control just got fired

Morse & Giron _BOTH_ just got shitcanned by voters in a recall.

http://www.9news.com/news/article/354623/339/Morse-Giron-lose-recalls-over-gun-laws-support

This was supposed to be a referendum on guns. I'm sure by noon tomorrow, it will have been written off as a meaningless aberration.

Weiner and Spitzer both lost too.

Almost gives you some hope that people aren't as dumb as they seem sometimes.

That brings the GOP within one seat of outright control of the state Senate in Colorado. I suspect the far left drift in that state will slow.

The main lesson is not to go against your constituents. These were Democratic-leaning districts. The voters rejected them.

After 5 years of being able to do what ever they want the dems keep trying to push the line a bit more and see how far left they can go. Sooner or later people have enough.

It really shouldnt have been a surprise that in a pro gun state like colorado that wouldnt go over well. They had sheriffs coming out saying their department wouldnt enforce the new laws before they were even passed

Highlights something the NRA and some libs don't want to admit. There are a fair number of liberals and democrats who are generally pro-gun, just as there are conservatives and republicans who favor restrictions on guns.

No such thing as a liberal pro gun person. Liberals do not like guns and blame society, white males, the rich and Bush for all crime.

Life is so simple for the simple minded. And to think guns solve any problems is as simple minded as it gets.

The NRA has never been partisan, they endorse liberal candidates if theyre strong on guns the the GOP one isnt. Liberals were the ones who tried to turn the NRA into a right wing organization during the gun ban debates in an attempt to discredit them.

Until now though liberal gun owners have generally been quiet on the issue or sucked it up when the liberal candidates attacked the gun rights, Im glad to see them saying enough and standing up for what they believe in. It was really just a matter of time, Colorado is one of the worst states to use as a testing ground for mounting a serious offensive against guns

The NRA gives 95% of it's political donations to GOP candidates. Coincidence? I don't think so...

They voted for background checks and banned the sale of mags containing more than 15 rounds. Sounded resonable to me. However,a big blow to Morse and Giron was the ruling that prohibited voting by mail in this election.

As a progressive state with wide open areas, Colorado voters have overwhelmingly relied on mail-in ballots in the past. The decision to not use mail in ballots for this recall ignored a state law passed earlier this year that guaranteed a ballot by mail to every registered voter in Colorado, including in a recall election.

Yeah, they couldn't cheat as easily.

False, they give their money to who ever supports guns. Only liberals view the 2nd amendment as as suggestion instead of a right

Correct. In fact, if they could ever muster up the votes, they'd repeal the 2nd amendment altogether.

Al Gore was once a Life Member of the NRA and had an A rating. That was when he was a member of the House from Tennessee. My how times change.

Exactly. If you support guns they support you, once you stop though they pull support. Anyone who thinks they only give to conservatives doesnt understand how political donations work. If theyre giving significantlly more to conservatives right now thats nothing more than a reflection of the types of candiidates and the current agenda of the liberals

Al Gore was once anti-abortion and pro-music censorship too...

He found the greenie weenie angle to be a more modern and profitable scam to pull.

The old ladies in nursing home down south are dying off and never had nearly the money to fleece as the urban lib lefties do.

LOL priceless. The biggest partisan hack on this site calling someone partisan.

I really shouldnt bbe surprised though that you believe another bullshit lie. The rest of America understands how donations really work.

You should let the NRA know theyre a republican mouth piece so they can adjust all their ratings just to be based off party

Bloomberg is a fascist prick.

The media gives him a pass on "stop and frisk" because he's such a bona fide leftist in other areas.

He only has as much influence as money can buy, people are sick of his faggot ass in NYC.

It Was A Terrible Night For Michael Bloomberg
BRETT LOGIURATO SEP. 11, 2013, 10:14 AM 17,162 48

In two high-profile elections on opposite sides of the country on Tuesday, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a big loser.

The first came in his backyard of New York, where Democratic voters are on the verge of making Bill de Blasio their nominee for mayor. Bloomberg, as he revealed last weekend, is not a big fan of de Blasio, a candidate who has made a winning campaign out of tarnishing Bloomberg's legacy. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Bloomberg's preferred choice, finished a distant third.

But perhaps the bigger loss for Bloomberg came in Colorado, where two Democratic state lawmakers were recalled after backing stricter gun laws in the wake of two mass shootings last year in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn. The NRA headlined its press release celebrating the recall elections, "Michael Bloomberg Suffers Resounding Defeat."

"It was a really bad night for Michael Bloomberg," said Greg Valliere, the chief political strategist at Potomac Research, in a note Wednesday morning.

"His money made no difference in Colorado, where voters ousted two proponents of gun control — a chilling message that Sandy Hook had no real impact on this debate. In New York City, the dismal showing by Christine Quinn was a reflection of Bloomberg fatigue by voters."

It was a rare night in which both left and right united in victory in the face of a common enemy — Bloomberg.

On the right, gun-rights advocates delivered a brutal hit to Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Angela Giron, one of the state senators who was recalled, told the New Republic last month that if even one seat was lost, MAIG "might as well fold it up." Bloomberg himself donated $350,000 to help the senators in question. If nothing else, the results will likely lead to major pause from state legislators looking to tackle gun-control issues, especially in purple states.

And on the left, de Blasio clearly made his campaign a referendum on growing dissatisfaction with Bloomberg, especially among city Democrats. Look no further than the campaign's star television ad — in which de Blasio's 15-year-old son, Dante, tells voters that his father will be the "only Democrat with the guts to really break from the Bloomberg years."

Bloomberg only gave $350K because the Democrats (and Bloomberg) believed the recall effort would be a complete failure. Looks like they read that wrong.

Keep in mind both of these politicians came from districts where the majority of voters were registered Democrats.

No. The media gives him a pass because stop and frisk largely because of the demographics of those affected by it. People were gave Guiliani a pass for a long time for the same reason.

Guliani was a hard ass but had no policy even close to the unconstitutionality of Stop and Frisk.

The Media fears Bloombergs power and money and they absolutely worship his Nanny State leanings on guns.

Stop and Frisk IS very effective in eliminating crime, but so is martial law. I don't think anyone should want to give their rights away so easily.
