Do you think the government will have a furlough?

I'm trying to plan for childcare.

I'd give my left nut for a government shutdown.

The last time, it blew up in the stupid motherfuckers' GOP faces, and Clinton cruised to re-election.

Let history repeat itself!

I think a real discussion about budget cutting would be great. First, let's start looking at all the bullshit "make work" programs in states like Mississippi and Alabama. Let's also cut funding for their roads and infrastructure, since most blue states put more into the Federal Treasury than they get back in return while red states like Wyoming and Alaska live on the government teet.

YES. Make arrangements and pre-pay for one week.

I don't get it. You'll be out of work so you CANNOT take care of your child? I would think you'll have plenty of time for that since you will be at home.

Buy a clue. NM gets the most. It has two Democratic Senators and gave its electoral votes to Obama. In fact, VA and MD suck harder off the teet than WY. Two Democratic Senators each and both gave their electoral votes to Obama. Time to look closer to home.

Read what I wrote. I'm talking about states who receive more Federal benefits than they pay for. VA and MD may get more Federal dollars, but they also pay more to the Feds because of higher incomes...

States Receiving Most in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid:

1. D.C. ($6.17)
2. North Dakota ($2.03)
3. New Mexico ($1.89)
4. Mississippi ($1.84)
5. Alaska ($1.82)
6. West Virginia ($1.74)
7. Montana ($1.64)
8. Alabama ($1.61)
9. South Dakota ($1.59)
10. Arkansas ($1.53)

States Receiving Least in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid:

1. New Jersey ($0.62)
2. Connecticut ($0.64)
3. New Hampshire ($0.68)
4. Nevada ($0.73)
5. Illinois ($0.77)
6. Minnesota ($0.77)
7. Colorado ($0.79)
8. Massachusetts ($0.79)
9. California ($0.81)
10. New York ($0.81)

I know what you wrote and I know what you mean. Do you?

Go outside the top 10. Where do MD and VA rank. Bet you they get back more than they put in. Where does WY rank in comparison to those two. Re-read what you wrote and try to understand it this time.

Let's just agree that you are a clueless prick. Look at the number of Red States in the first list and the number of Blue States in the second list. It proves my fucking point. Now fuck off cunt.

So, you decided to do a little research and found out that, once again, you just got your ass handed to you. You do excel at spouting off nonsensical bullshit and expecting nobody to call you on it. Hey dumbass, you can't change your point half way through a dialoge and then say "it proves my point." Particularly after you were just made to play the fool. Go fart on your kids face and tell him he lives downwind from the landfill, tard. Care to tel the rest of the world where MD and VA rank in comparison to WY, or is your silence on that an affirmation of your resounding defeat?

Virginia and Maryland are #2 and #4 in defense contracts. It's probably the same for counterterrorism spending.

Things like SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, and the like are probably not going to be affected in the near term (1-5 years). SS and Medicare have to do with longterm budgeting as they're mostly pay-as-you-go. Medicaid and the other welfare programs are affected by the economy. They would fall if the economy improves and wages increase. If we get more of the same top-heavy economy favoring the well to do and those with contacts to government, then the welfare programs will turn into longterm issues.

I think total government purchases from the private sector is something around 500 billion dollars with almost half from the military-cointel agencies.

Supposed to be a vote today on extending the CR for DoD - thats my best guess. We will get a two week CR extension and then who the fuck knows.

Oh, and teeter sounds like a fucking idiot; do more research and learn the truth.

In about 6 weeks, Congress would have to start working on both the budget and the debt limit.

What's the truth? Tell about all that smart research you've got? Point to a single inaccuracy in my analysis of WTL's BS. All I am asking for is ONE inaccuracy.

Speaking of BS, CR extending for DoD? Take a look at the bill, dumbass. You lose because you can't even understand what the hell is going on. The CR is for the whole gov't. It cuts out programs the POTUS has recommended for elimination. It also eliminates earmarks.

They got the extension until March 18th. Vote was something like 331-90.

we'll see what the senate does. they look likely to follow, but they still have to debate and vote.

If they shutdown they should forfeit their paychecks.

I thought this was a local topic since most people in NoVa are affected directly (gov employee, contractor, or supplier) or indirectly. As of tonight, the total debt subject to the the limit of $14.294T is just 99 billion dollars away.

http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/charts/charts_debt.htm

Congress will have to get cracking on both the budget and the debt ceiling in about 2-3 weeks if they're going to make it on time to avoid a shutdown.
