Best TV classic Western Series

What is your favorite classic TV western series? I think Bat Masterson, staring Gene Barry deserves the top spot. He was so cool! Next on the list would be "Laredo", staring that decorated WW2 Army Vet; Neville Brand.

I finally saw the Bonanza episode where Hoss met the leprechauns, god bless those legacy show channels. Show was before my time but I gotta say, boy it sucked. It really was a 50-year-old guy and his three 40-year-old sons.

"Have Gun, Will Travel". Paladin was the original badass. Epic theme song, too. /thread

Cheyenne was awesome. Character was played by Clint Walker. Big simple, honest, strong, stud, who meant no harm and wasn't out trying to pick a fight - but when one came he whopped 'em good.Cheyenne/Clint Walker was the big handsome 6'6" muscular dark haired guy who was also in The Dirty Dozen.

Cheyenne was Way better than "Have Gun, Will Travel" - Paladin. Paladin was a hard, rough faced, evil mercenary type looking for a fight. He was played by what seemed to be a sinister skinny evil, probably closeted gay BDSM, method actor named Richard Boone.

Funny you should mention that one, it is one of the few, possibly the only, that I remember from childhood.

When I was a kid they used to re-run old western movies which I enjoyed far more than the western TV shows they ran at that time. Not sure which movie I liked the best, but best theme is a toss up between Magnificent Seven and The Good, the Bad & the Ugly.

Dont believe negative stuff about Richard Boone tha actor... dont believe negative lies on internet and some gossip rag.. richard boone.. paladin was not gay or in any closet... he was a much married man with a family he did have affairs with other women a factual bio on him by western author david rothel confirms boone was straight.. his widow is still living and you should be ashamed of yourself! Wishful thinking from your dreams.. perhaps?

Great stuff posted. A case could be made for busting my balls for not googling this info: but I'm geezing and need some help on remembering a TV show: Not a hard core Western a bit more humorous: ran from maybe 65' to 68' on color TV midweek evening show: Neville Brand possibly.Indian Squaw who smoked cigars took a fancy to one of the cowboys. The occasional cute enchialada cowgirl.

No. Denny Miller did. Remember the western where the cowboy had mirrors on his hat band and would blind his opposition in a gunfight? Destry?

The Rifleman in the earliest episodes. He would shoot a guy just for looking like he was trouble. He would then get back on his horse leaving the townspeople to bury the dead guy.

Back then they killed thousands in a lifetime. Nick Barkley and hEATH of "Big Valley" killed about 3 bad guys a day. They never even got dirty working on a cattle ranch, those guys were amazing.

Vickie: Thanks. I remember that the Squaw was in at least 2 episodes; possibly later in the series. Smoked a cigar and was partial towards one of the regulars.
