Yep...unfortunate but when you snooze, you lose. Frankly, you were passing a bit slow anyway and no one wanted to be stuck behind you if you were a potential running roadblock. Always keep your eye on the rear view when riding the left lane. You should have sped up and been next to that guy's rear bumper when you saw the first bike coming up on the right. You would have seen the others behind him and known what he was going to do. Then pass the blue wagon and get out of the way.

People who drive neck and neck with other cars and trucks should be executed.

Denying others the right to pass if they need to.

The OP, in his self righteous ignorance , is too worried about how everyone else is driving , while not paying attention to his own driving.

The left lane is for passing. You pass and get over to the right, allowing those who want to go faster to pass. It is not your place to wonder if the people passing you are going the speed limit or breaking any other laws. We have police for that.

Traffic would go a lot smoother around here if the left lane was kept open for passing. But no one seems to care. In essence, everyone around here is fucking themselves.

1) To the OP: It's been said before and I'll say it again...The left lane is indeed for passing. You drive in the right lane, close on a car in front of you, move left to pass, pass the car and then MOVE OVER back to the right. No matter how fast you drive in the left-most lane there will ALWAYS be someone who wants to go faster. Treat the left-most lane like an ugly girl's pussy...get in, get out and move on. Don't hang out there. And here's a good tip to help you with your passing to insure courtesy and safety...When you're changing lanes to go around someone, use your side and rear-view mirrors. For example, you're in the right lane...and you're closing on the car in front of you. Check your side view mirror...anyone there? If not, signal, check over your shoulder and change lanes. Accelerate, pass the car and then glance in your REAR-view mirror. When you see the car in the right lane's headlights in your rear-view mirror it is now safe to move back over in front of them. The way you know if you're cutting someone off besides them honking at you is...if they have to brake AT ALL? You cut them off. Regarding your music problem...I highly recommend anything from RUSH prior to 1982.

2) To the motorcyclists: Your thinking was right but, your execution fucking SUCKED! When riding in a pack it's fine to shuffle through lanes like that but for fuck's sake...tighten it up, dirt bags! Group leader...when you change lanes so the group can pass? Um yeah...you don't get to slow down, hold up traffic and have a ham sandwich while the rest of the group shuffles through. #2 rider through the tailgunner...when group leader changes lanes, stay tight. You don't have to be right on his ass (that's LATER)...but have some situational awareness...When you see group leader's signal go on, put yours on and be ready to pass. Make your passes and then get out of the left-most lane.

3) To everyone else: This is not related to this video but, if you're on a road with more than 2 lanes in one direction? Stay out of the RIGHT-most lane, too. The RIGHT-most lane is for people accelerating/decelerating getting on and off the road/highway. If you didn't just get on the road/highway or you're not getting off at the VERY next exit or otherwise having some emergency situation which requires you to drive below the posted speed limit, stay OUT of the RIGHT-most lane.

4) Put down your bullshit distractions, pay full attention to your driving and maybe you'll save a life today. And yeah...for some people, the radio could be distraction. Especially, if it's a Jap built vehicle. Christ those slopes love them some buttons, don't they?

5) Save the manual transmissions...please. Learn how to drive one and own one.

It doesn't matter if it's limited access or not. If the road is divided, and clearly the road the OP was driving on was divided, get the fuck out of the left lane for faster traffic.

Problems with your post:

#1 46.2-842.1 only applies if there is another vehicle in the right late as well and the left-lane driver is driving side by side (i.e. 'abreast', thus BLOCKING). In the video above, there clearly wasn't a vehicle to the right because the motorcycles were easily able to get around. Thus, this section of the Virginia Code would not apply

#2 The video DOES show the motorcycle rider driving abreast of another vehicle with the apparent intent to block while at the same time failing to give right of way to an overtaking vehicle. So the motorcycle driver IS violating VA 46.2-842.1.

#3. Eventually, when making a left hand turn, you will give way to overtaking traffic. You can't stay there forever, but if by law you are required to use a left turning lane, it is obvious that you must be in the left lane at some point, in spite of the fantasy entitlements of other drivers.
