Didn't the RNC critisize John Edwards for a not actually real $400.00 haircut last year?

I remember in 1992 the Republicans bellowing about Bill Clinton's $800 suits. This morning, some talking head was questioning how much Obama spends on clothes. Sorry, but even buying custom-made suits, it would take a hell of a lot to get to $150K in men's clothing.

Looks like it's almost time for October surprises. I read yesterday that Palin is now accused of fraud for billing Alaska for expenses that were really for her kids.

Obama buys his own suits--he doesn't use DNC or campaign money to do it. Sarah Palin, that maverick reformer, seems to believe that she should be able to stick Alaskan taxpayers and RNC contributors for a lot of her personal expenses. Billing the state for per diem expenses when she is at home, running up travel expenses to drag her kids all over the country with her (while staying in posh hotels), and now running up exorbitant bills for designer clothing and accesssories. Why exactly do Republicans believe she is some kind of reformer?

Do you here that stratching sound? That's Registered Voter trying to come up with a response that sounds favorable to only his shallow mind.

I love the $700/night hotel bills she rang up. She's just a small town hackey mam, sure.

And really, what state is more socialist than Alaska?

I can't wait until this is over.

The back biting has begun:

NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family—clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

A Palin aide said: "Governor Palin was not directing staffers to put anything on their personal credit cards, and anything that staffers put on their credit cards has been reimbursed, like an expense. Nasty and false accusations following a defeat say more about the person who made them than they do about Governor Palin."

McCain himself rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended. Palin asked to speak along with McCain at his Arizona concession speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request.

Voter-

This does not surprise me one bit. The woman has demonstrated a willingness to use taxpayer and donor funds for her own benefit. She used Wasilla's debt to build her $500K house. She used the Alaskan treasury to pay her to sleep in her own bed and to pay for her kids' vacations. And now this. The Republicans have a real winner on their hands with this crazy "whack job" bitch.

I sincerely hope she goes back to Alaska and we never see or hear from her ever again.

She's already working on Palin 2012. God, I hope Schmidt and company take her out at the knees in New Hampshire and Iowa.

I also liked this bit from today's Post:

Palin had been on the Obama short list for a few weeks, and then had been taken off when stories about her efforts to get her brother-in-law fired from the Alaska state police broke.

Dunn, the senior Obama adviser, had the unique perspective of having run a campaign against Palin two years earlier, as an adviser to Alaskan gubernatorial candidate Tony Knowles. She considered Palin a formidable and charismatic politician; she also had a grasp of Palin's thin record and her history on the "bridge to nowhere," and had sat through numerous Palin-Knowles debates.

That Palin expertise, shared by few in the country, would steady the Obama campaign at a moment when national Democrats embarked on what one adviser described as "two weeks of total hysteria" over the Alaska governor.

Dunn had the research staff stop putting so much energy into Palin, convinced that she could not pass the vetting process. "How was I to know that they weren't going to vet her?" she said

Earlier,
"A Palin aide said: "Governor Palin was not directing staffers to put anything on their personal credit cards, and anything that staffers put on their credit cards has been reimbursed, like an expense. Nasty and false accusations following a defeat say more about the person who made them than they do about Governor Palin."

Fred Barnes said on FOX News that Nicolle Wallace bought Sarah Palin all her clothes. Nicolle Wallace said Fox News never called her to confirm the bit before airing, even though she had worked at Fox News and deserved the courtesy. Everybody knows that Jeff Larson is the one responsible for the Governor's shopping spree, so it looks as though the RNC, after demoting Nicolle to babysit the Palin bus,is now pushing her under that bus.

Fred Barnes did apologize for his Nicolle Wallace comment, but the damage was done. I smell a Nicolle Wallace book in a year.

Like I said earlier, I hope this Palin lady just goes back to Alaska so we never have to see or hear from her ever again.

She is an insult to American politics.

To quote Jack Cafferty, "if this doesn't scare you, it should." Can you say, "dodged a bullet?"

It is very disturbing that McCain knew this woman was so clueless and was willing to risk putting the country's future in her hands. I have even less respect for McCain after hearing this.

Now the RNC is sending lawyers up to the governor's mansion to find out what items she has and who is using them. How humiliating.

File a 1099 with the IRS. What's the gift tax on $150K in merchandise? Better yet, charge her with theft (of course, being a felon hasn't prevented Alaskans from voting for a candidate).
