British intelligence won't use Lenovo computers

It sounds like the disk controllers have been set up to transfer data to China without the user's knowledge.

Chicom chips are in almost all of our weapons systems (they used Iran to commandeer one of our Sentinel drones and our military still doesn't know how they did it - ask the Chicoms), our public infrastructure (Internet routers and switches and utilities) and our DoD and DHS infrastructure. They are scapping data out of all of these things. The Chicoms are more than happy to sell $500 chips for $100 to the US military. Stupid Americans.

I have to wonder about Acer also. There was a story several years ago that PCs used in the Taiwan government and assembled in Taiwan were found to be transmitting files back to a Red Army site.

On top of this, the NSA wants everyone to surrender their usernames and passwords to their central repository and it's been found that the NSA database is being shared with 100s of private firms for industrial espionage. It wouldn't surprise me if the data is being combined with other private mining data and resold.

if it were me, i wouldnt use anything that wasnt designed by my own country or a longtime ally (not a frienemy), analyzed (just to ensure the design was safe) and built in my own country all by well vetted people. it's way too easy to sneak in spy stuff into hardware.
