Palin's SATs

I'm posting this with the caveat that this has not been proven authentic yet, but if it is it would sure explain a lot:

Paul Wellstone was pretty well thought of, yet he scored less than 800 on his SATs...

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,997939,00.html

And this from a liberal blog:
http://isteve.blogspot.com/2007/04/rudy-giulianis-1073-sat-score.html

The point? Who cares. Only the folks that seem to be so worried they are finding every possible point they can to keep themselves believing it.

Whatever. You guys are pretty pathetic.

You know, if Palin weren't so contemptuous of democracy that she would deign to answer some questions from real reporters we might be able to get a fuller, more accurate picture of her without digging for every little scrap we can find to determine what her qualifications are. What's pathetic, my friend, is that she feels like she can waltz onto the national stage a mere two months from the election and sequester herself from the press and that people like you seem to believe that's okay.

If she doesn't answer questions, what do you care? It isn't like you or anyone you know would ever vote for her.. well maybe Vince would... but again, I ask - if Obama is going to win, why aren't you out celebrating? Isn't it happy hour or something? I just feel sad that you guys keep working so hard to make them look bad. I just come here and see what the latest drivel is, spend about 5 to 10 minutes posting my facts, then check back later to see what else you have dreamed up. It is actually pretty entertaining for me. Keeps my ADD in check, you know.

This statement is hilarious. You've invalidated backed some of your 'facts' by linking to Michelle Malkin and Newsmax. These two sites are bottom-of-the-barrel outrage factories run by two major wingnut-welfare recipients.

While I am voting for Barrack, I will say that this SAT thing is crap. I will also say that I am an idiot, but saying that, I have a good job, graduated with honors from college, and make a good salary and I totally screwed off on my SAT's. I would hate to see what my score was! Why? Because in HS tests such as these kids do not take seriously. Unless you are one of these over achiever's or Asian or Indian the SATS mean dick to you. But she is an idiot. Let's take a line from the "The Office" episode Beach Games, when Michael is trying to decide who gets the regional manager job.

There's Joe Biden, he is smart, has experience, everyday guy, negetives he is kind of a hot head

There's Sarah Palin, she is witty, pretty, runs Alaska, negetives she is an idiot.

Obviously you have a reading comprehension problem also. I don't quote from newsmax all the time, and I even derided my own sourcing of Michelle Malkin. Much like a lot of the drivel that anyone posts here from far left-wing-nut-jobs - at least I am honest on where I get my information, and make an honest attempt to use sources you all would call normal.

Joe Six Pack is a term that referrers to guys that are happiest when they have a six pack of beer in their hand. The guy could less about anything other than beer. The term is usually used to describe rednecks and country boys who's biggest goal is to get together to get drunk.

Biden attended the University of Delaware in Newark. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in history and political science in 1965, ranked 506th of 688 in his class.

Not exactly an overachiever I would say. Plus, UD is not exactly an academic powerhouse. Now, let's move onto his lawschool performance.

He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1968, where by his own description he underperformed. During his first year there, he was accused of having plagiarized 5 of 15 pages of a law review article.

So, not only is he a major underachiever, he is a cheater as well.

Apparently you have poor reading comprehension. tba implied that anyone who does well in school is simply parroting back the teacher's drivel. As a result, people who don't do well in school, like Levi Johnston, are fucking geniuses while people who do do well in school, like Robert E. Lee, must be fucking idiots.

Well, I guess my question was due to the rabid hatred of all things Confederate as shown on these threads. So I was just curious why you would invoke Lee in response to him. Or is this some other Lee I don't know?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_E._Lee

Quote

Robert Edward Lee (January 19, 1807 – October 12, 1870), was a career United States Army officer, an engineer, and among the most celebrated generals in American history. Lee was the son of Major General Henry Lee III "Light Horse Harry" (1756–1818), Governor of Virginia, and his second wife, Anne Hill Carter (1773–1829). He was a descendant of Sir Thomas More and of King Robert II of Scotland through the Earls of Crawford.[1]

A top graduate of West Point, Lee distinguished himself as an exceptional soldier in the U.S. Army for thirty-two years. He is best known for fighting on behalf of the Confederate Army in the American Civil War.

That was why I asked my question. Also, not sure what a college graduate from the 1800s has to do with today's version of liberal indoctrination institutions (colleges for those who missed it).

Lee's experience in schools back then (such as West Point) would have been the furthest things from colleges of today, which tba was referencing. Obviously you missed the point.

Lee was a brilliant military leader. Just because he made a bad choice doesn't change that.

I got my degree while working full time. I assume from your "talking down to the white trash" tone, that you got yours while having it paid for by your parents along with a few loans here and there. I doubt it was on scholarship though - most of those kids really appreciate hard work and usually don't get all holier than though with folks who are "less fortunate"

You did miss the point though. And still, your comparison with Lee is pretty funny.

The difference here...

Obama voters seem to think something is going to change for the positive if he gets elected.

That is the most laughable part of this whole election.

David Brooks had some interesting thoughts about the Republican's disdain for intellectuallism and the political cost in a recent column:

The political effects of this trend have been obvious. Republicans have alienated the highly educated regions — Silicon Valley, northern Virginia, the suburbs outside of New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Raleigh-Durham. The West Coast and the Northeast are mostly gone.

The Republicans have alienated whole professions. Lawyers now donate to the Democratic Party over the Republican Party at 4-to-1 rates. With doctors, it’s 2-to-1. With tech executives, it’s 5-to-1. With investment bankers, it’s 2-to-1. It took talent for Republicans to lose the banking community.

Conservatives are as rare in elite universities and the mainstream media as they were 30 years ago. The smartest young Americans are now educated in an overwhelmingly liberal environment.

Wow, you showed me. 3.93 GPA.... I should be so honored to wipe the shit off your shoes.

I feel so humbled now.

Right.

Like Obama, you are unable to admit or even acknowledge when you were wrong. But keep trying to point out that you were right. You still missed the point.

Robert E Lee, in this case, is a poor example of trying to make tba out to be an idiot. Your use of Lee is a poor comparison, since tba is speaking of colleges TODAY, where it is well documented that 70% or so of the professors (or more) teaching at our colleges generally have a liberal view, and in many cases push that ideal on students.

Robert E Lee went to West Point - during a time in which I suppose he was given liberal teachings (at West Point - sure) since he later went on to lead the military of the Confederates. So again, not sure what you are trying to refute as to what tba is saying. Was Lee a college professor? No. Did he go to a liberally biased college? No. West Point would most likely have been the farthest thing from liberal. Also, schools back then were a lot different than anything we have today. If Lee did "parrot back" what his teachers taught back then it would have been pretty impressive. And again, irrelevant to what tba was pointing out in his opinion.

Republicans are reaping the rewards of their Faustian bargain with the racist and ignorant elements of the South and Midwest who they courted through their "Southern Strategy" and "Moral Majority" efforts. The Democrats had to deal with these elements for decades following the Civil War and clear up to the Dixiecrats and George Wallace. Now the Republicans own this problem and are stuck with it.

During Lee's tenure, Washington and Lee added a journalism school and a law school and was seen as one of the most progressive (aka "liberal) schools of the era.

Quote

While living in the country, Lee wrote his son that he hoped to retire to a farm of his own, but a few weeks later he received an offer to serve as the president of Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) in Lexington, Virginia. Lee accepted, and remained president of the College from October 2, 1865 until his death. Over five years, he transformed Washington College from a small, undistinguished school into one of the first American colleges to offer courses in business, journalism, and Spanish. He also imposed a simple concept of honor—"We have but one rule, and it is that every student is a gentleman" — that endures today at Washington and Lee and at a few other schools that continue to maintain "honor systems." Importantly, Lee focused the college on attracting male students from the North as well as the South.

Yes, he was the president of a college. He also spoke of "honor" and being "gentlemen", something that it appears got lost in translation by today's standards of education. He was not a professor before the war, nor after.

Again.
