That article does not confirm that 5 million mortgages are held by illegal immigrants. It's basically a radio station in Arizona that made the claim, and now they're defending their story. How would HUD know the number anyway?

While I don't doubt a lot of illegal immigrants are defaulting on home loans, how the Hell would HUD know that 5 million are owned by illegal immigrants? Did they check every SS#? Or are they going by surname?

I have a feeling HUD may have a report saying that 5 million homes are near default within the next 30 days or something like that and these idiots on the right attributed every one of those to an illegal immigrant.

It's a "story" done by a conservative talk radio station in Arizona (of all places). This is the same station that got in trouble when one of their news anchors said that it should be legal for citizens to shoot and kill people coming across the border. That should tell you a alot about the quality of their programming. This HUD story is just some idiotic scare tactic that focuses the blame away from Bush-McCain at a time when their campaign needs as much scapegoating as possible. Not only would HUD not know the number of illegals holding mortgages, but how the hell would they know those mortgages were fraudulent??

But, I've been to Arizona and don't doubt there are alot of folks out there that take this one hook, line, and sinker.

I checked HUD and Census and nothing really there other than overall ownership rates by race. It was something like 46% or something amongst Hispanics (44 million or so in the US legal and illegal).

Im sure you'd find that illegals have a better record on holding fraudulent mortgages then those true blue amerikans. People at the bottom of the economic pyramid arent as sophisticated or even aware of all the crooked advantages afforded the more affluent in amerika. Illegals are harder working then most amerikans and certainly dont want to get involved in the legal system.

Everyone knows that those dirty brown illegals are cheating the system.

It only makes sense that they are the ones who are getting bad mortgages using bad information. I mean, they are smarter than the legitimate Americans, and they know how to covince a professional mortgage processor that they make enough money to get a loan, considering their illegal wages are more traceable than a guy who has to file a W2.

After a late night meeting of the Freepers, they came to the conclusion that your stupidity and bigotry are NOT the responsibility of illegal aliens or minorities.
