It was the greed of the working man! Oh by the way..that of course is no white person...we of course always work hard and only get those things we get from the fruit of our sweat..it's those poor people who dont know their place...who want a free hand out! SICK...SICK..SICK!

The addition of country-western music to this clip is hilariously appropriate. I mean, who else would stay tuned to all that?

Nuff said.

I believe that is 80s music and rock music and you can mute it if you'd like. It doesn't change the accuracy of the content. If you have an actual comment of substance, please make it, otherwise my case still stands. Obama and the democrats played a major role in the econ crisis, if you can disprove that please do, but the video is factual. Socialism does not work. Go get a job and stop leaching off hard working Americans who actually earn their $$$.

i just refuse to blame low/medium income people for trying to have a small piece of the american dream for this fiasco...especially when compared to the multi/million dollar greed of the rich!

If that makes me an idiot...so be it!

I'm all for everyone aspiring to home ownership, but stealing houses is the way we're supposed to get there? Why don't we all just steal houses then?

I am sure you are using the word "steal" figuratively! So please explain further. No one had to steal..no one had to lie to get these sub-prime loans. Banks...mortgagees were agressively marketing these loans! These bankers and mortgagees...made tons of money offering these deals to everyone. Hell my 22 year old daughter who just graduated from college and doesnt have a job yet was enticed by Amazon.Com to obtain one of their credit cards this morning..in fact they paid her to take one..she's be stupid not to take the offer.

The people who are stealing arent the people taking these offers they'd be stupid not to take...the people offering them are the thieves...the bankers!

True, but she is probably stupid because she shares genetic material with you and whoever was dumb enough to procreate with you. Her lack of employment is hardly startling.

To TheMeeper,
In response to this posting:

What is your family's position on the dinosaurs?

Excuse me? Wow.. you must be very close minded to think all Republicans think the dinosaurs didn't exist.. or whatever crazy thing you think. I'll have you know that I am pro-gay marriage, pro-choice, I believe in evolution (GASP!), but I don't persecute or ridicule those who have different beliefs... to quote Mike Huckabee, "I'm a Republican because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life poor, waiting for the government to rescue me."

In your face ignorant fool :)

dems - for pushing gses & mortgage companies to offer loans to unqualified people
reps - for deregulating ib, banking and allowing unfettered short selling and CDS
loaners - for taking advantage of the pushers and deregulaters then parachuting before the shit hit the fan
buyers - for entering into deals they couldn't afford and counting on escalating real estate prices to bail them out

Huh? Plenty of people lied on loan applications, or abused the availability of no-documentation loans to overstate income. By lying to obtain property, that's a stolen house. If the government lowers principal, they allow people to keep property they could never afford in the first place. Can we really live in a system where it's okay to get property one can't afford and have everyone else just lower the payment so they can stay in the house? After a while everyone would do it.

If lowering principal becomes prevalent, I may consider just not paying my mortgage for a few months to get them to lop off some principal... seems like easy money. I doubt I will be the only one to do it. If I'm paying for others to keep houses they could never afford anyway then I want my cut.

Yes clearly everyone should be absolved of contractual obligations when accepting loans and signing on the dotted line because it was aggressively marked to them. Personal responsibility be damned. I mean I just now bought a 24 pack of bud light because I saw 5 bud light ads in the space of five minutes and I simply couldn't control myself.

srsly, if we can't hold people to contracts we are going to have to accept a much different society. People will just stop playing by the rules if others get to skate on them, and we'll just develop a new set of rules that many probably won't like. Like 20%-40% minimum down payments on houses like other countries do (wisely). Can't come up with the down payment? Guess you can't afford this house. Go find one you can afford. Gonna walk away? Thanks for the 20% down we can apply toward foreclosing your house.

Exactly. Look, I've heard stories where people with a 25k income were given a mortgage for a 500k house. Are you telling me these people were preyed on my evil mortgage lenders? You think they didn't know that they couldn't afford the monthly payments? People got greedy, they figured they can get into a house, then after a year sell it and make a 100k profit. I actually heard some moron say that the government should give them their houses for free. Excuse me???? Yeah sure, lets just reward the greed and screw the people who are responsible!
I hope the bailout plan gets squashed again.

Yup...thats exactly what Im saying...you sit down with a real estate agent and they misrepresent what it is you can afford...fill you with the rosiest of forcasts for the future value of your home...how you can refinance..and basically lie through their teeth for the sale. You all seem to absolve the agents...the banks..they are the ones misleading the public. They are doing it today!

And as far as your stupid anecdotal stories about people wanting the government to give them a free home...get real...the vast majority of these people are working harder then you do...and are just trying to survive...they work hard..pay their bills and only want a chance to succeed. So take your elitist attitude about hard working people down on their luck and shove it.

OMG - some 30 years ago and too many administrations to count.

The CRIP? You must be kidding!

This is grasping at straws. Yes, minority low income people bought houses. Owning a house is still the greatest wealth building tool thin nation has to offer.

Good lord. So, blame the CRIP on the economic crisis. go ahead. Look at you 401(k). You have had stock in companies like Home Depot and Lowes, Ryan and Pulte and other homebuilders, GE, IKEA, and banks to numerouse to count. All of these companies made massive gains because of the rise in home building and home wonership in the last 30 years, not the last 8 or so.

Remember, 30 years ago when the CRIP was implemented, homes were cheap by comparison to today. My home, built in 1973, originally sold for $24000 or something like that so I am told. A family of four could buy a house and pay only 25% or less of their income in mortgage payments. Now families are paying, or not paying, close to 50% or more of their income in morgage payments. It is a diffrerent world now.

Do you think the Go Go 80s and 90s stock market surge had anything to do with homeownership rates? They sure did! People who owned a home felt better about saving for retirement knowing their landlord could not raise the rent or kick them out as easily.

This country is in serious trouble with idiots spreading propaganda like this. Clueless, you are f-ing clueless!

You should have offed her when she was 3 months old, or before. You'd have saved us the discomfort of having to support her. Besides, she was an unworthy piece of crap then and she is obviously a piece of crap now. C'mon, you know she was worthless. She was not humanized until three months after birth. Three months should have given you enough time to realize she was absolutely worthless.
