6 people in my family, 3 voting McCain and 3 voting Obama. Should we not bother voting at all?

There are 6 registered voters in my family. 3 will defiintely vote for McCain
while the other 3 will definitely vote for Obama.

Call me silly, but wouldn't this mean our votes won't make any difference
either way? Should we just not vote?

The only vote that all 6 of us agree on is the Fairfax County park ballot.
(which we are all AGAINST)

There will also be voting on other offices. And, of course vote. One of the 6 could have a heart attack walking into the booth and may not actually vote.

Well, maybe the Bradley Effect will come into play. Maybe you have some closet racists in your family who *say* they are going to vote for Obama but are really just too ashamed to admit they won't vote for a black man.

Why would I be ashamed to say that I will never vote for blacks like Obama.

Just like I will I ever vote for hispanics like Sarah Palin.

Or that I will never vote for someone like McCain, who deserted his devoted
wife so he could marry his current super-rich wife.

A bit of game theory for you, If all of your family agrees not to vote, since all the votes would cancel, then there is an incentive for gain by one half of the family to break the agreement and vote anyways, knowing that the other side is going to be staying at home.

It is worth it just to vote against the bond referendum for the parks.

I like "pay as you go", too.

But it might be worth convincing the other half of your family that your votes will cancel and not to bother voting ;)
