Favorite Drinks

What are people's favorite drinks? Here are a few of mine:

Cranberry Liquer

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (12 oz) package fresh cranberries
  • 3 cups vodka
Steps
  • Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan; cooke over medium heat until sugar dissolves, stirring constantly
  • Remove from heat and cool completely
  • Place cranberries in a food processor and process 2 minutes or until linely chopped
  • Combine sugar mixture and cranberries in a large bowl; stir in vodka
  • Pour mixture into clean jars; secure with lid
  • Let stand for 3 weeks in a cool, dark place, shaking every other day
  • Strain the cranberry mixture through a cheesecloth-lined sieve into a bowl and discard solids
  • Carefully pour liqueur into clean bottle or jars
  • Liqueur can be stored at room temperature for up to a year
Serving Suggestions
  • Sip in chilled glasses
  • Drizzle over icecream and fruit
  • Mix with Cointreau and lime juice
  • Mix with lime juice and top with sprite

Mango Sangria

This is the recipe I use (although I substitute mango and mango vodka for the peach)

Voyant Chai Cream

Great for sipping - tastes like a chai latte.

Margaritas

Margaritas and Amarette Sours are great when they aren't too sweet. I've finally given up on my original margarita recipe (equal parts fresh lime, tequila, triple sec and grand marnier) because most people found it too strong. Instead, I use Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix and tequila... then top it off with some fresh lime juice and triple sec. I've found they get rave reviews when I rim the glasses with lemon cocktail sugar.

On an unfortunate note, the Dominion brew pub closed a couple of weeks ago.

Dominion Ale and Molson Golden!

If I had to drink mixed it would be Jager, Rum Runner or Long Island Ice Tea.

Maker's or Glenlivet with 3 medium-sized ice cubes.

After that, I'd have to go with Grape Mad Dog 20/20 with St. Ides Malt Liquor, strained over my dead homies.

That's a shame, that place had good food.

I heard a rumor that the brewery might be moving to a bigger location.

496: I wasn't happy about the sale either, but I'd have a tough time boycotting their Oktoberfest beer.

And F AB for selling out the to the Belgians. Coors, Miller, and AB are all foreign owned now.

I haven't been able to figure out why anybody would object to the Belgians buying AB. The Belgians know how to make beer at least, unlike AB. I wouldn't drink a Budweiser if I were crawling through the desert dying of thirst and came across an ice cold cooler full of them. Maybe the Belgians will make some improvements.

Meeper,
I was in Nelson County last weekend and checked out a new brewery that opened in Afton. Its called Blue Mountain Brewery. I didn't have a bad beer all afternoon and prety much drank all they offered. Their Weizen was particularly good.
If youever go to Wintergreen they are on Rte 151 headed toward the mountain.

I like Other Peoples most of the time. Its great and doesnt involve
any of that "brand loyalty" stuff. Sometimes though its nice to
have a good wine like "Red Rooster 21", also known as the
"Kickin' Chicken" http://www.ghettowine.com/21/rooster1.html

This is the best "fightin' wine" money can buy.
