Matt Damon wrote the script for Goodwill Hunting. I think the guy is pretty smart. He may be the "Hollywood elite," or whatever the Republicans want to paint him as. But he asks some pretty good questions. Who the Hell is Sarah Palin, really?

I think it's pretty funny how the right has been totally dismissive of celebrity opinions until they found a few of their own. Chuck Norris and Jon Voigt get plenty of time on Fox News.

You know who cares about what Matt Damon says? The same women who have been swooning over Sarah Palin without knowing anything about her. I really think the point he makes about the 4,000 year-old dinosaurs is going to hit home with people. While most people believe in God and believe God created the world, most of them don't believe the Creationist line about the Earth being 5,000 years old.

How about those women who used to swoon over Bill Clinton? I remember
one at work saying during the Bush1/Clinton election, "I cant believe
anybody would vote for George Bush because Bill Clinton is so much
better looking than he is." Thats the kind of mentality some people
have but there isnt anything I can do but ignore it.

She did fine, even though MSM is doing their darnedest to take whatever little snippet they can and blow it up into something more than it is.

Regarding the war with Russia thing, she did say that Georgia should be let into Nato, much like Ukraine. If you think about it, does it make sense to just let Russia roll over their neighbors that control access to oil and natural gas supply lines and have even more leverage over their (the Europeans) political decision making process? What if Russia goes after Poland (part of Nato now) do we just go "oops, my bad?"

When Russia sets up bases in Venezuela where will you all be then? (remember the whole reason we had the Cuban Missile Crisis?) I don't get you all sometimes. If you all want Russia to dictate what our allies do or think, why not just turn over the US government to them now? You think we are safe in some little cocoon over here and we should just let the Europeans be strong armed into compliance? Because we already saw that world before Reagan came into office.

Should we fight for Georgia IF they are admitted to NATO? Probably. So you are saying we should not admit Georgia because the Russians might attack? Doesn't the same logic apply - why would they and risk setting off a nuclear war? Or do you think they don't care about their money, homes and power (the ones running Russia)? That is why Russia is attacking them now - to cow the other folks into not doing it - and if they give in this time, what is to stop it from happening the next time? Saying "pretty please?"

The two provinces in question are STILL part of Georgia, regardless of ONLY Russia recognizing them.

Russia has been occupying these two provinces for quite a while (as peacekeepers no less), even though the rest of the world recognizes Georgia as an independent country. The details of who exactly started what are still coming out on this, so it is hard to say who started what - but I can be pretty sure that Georgia did not attack into Russia...
