Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I noticed the youtube comments were closed and the moderator made a note about promising the father to try and keep the comments civil. Pretty straight of them.
Cheesy????? You wouldn't dare say that to his face! That boy and people just like him fought and died for all the rights and freedoms that you, I, and the rest of Americans ENJOY in THIS country. I wonder what the fuck you would fight for...if anything. It's people like you who are cheezy, shallow, lazy, and just plain old disgusting.
TheMeeper....your an asshole.

It's cheesy because it flagrantly appeals to people's emotions instead of reason. It's classic propaganda. A wounded vet sermoning his "cause" for a political campaign.
I feel bad for the dude, he's gonna live the rest of his life without his leg.
Just because you feel sorry for someone doesn't make their opinion valid.

It is absolutely valid to disagree with the message while feeling sympathy for the messenger.
I suggest people read the new Bob Woodward Book, The War Within, or at least the excerpts posted on washingtonpost.com . The "surge" successes were not solely because more troops were sent, the military recommended against it and Bush basically said he was the prez and he expected "yes sir's" and not pessimistic viewpoints. It is a chilling read in many spots when you learn about the influences involved.
After you read that, re-watch the video and ask yourself if it is patriotic to support a war because a president started and maintained it, or if it is patriotic to oppose the war because these poor decisions led to loss of life and limb.
edit to add: and after reading the excerpts one won't hear McCain's "look, I supported the surge" comments the same way.
