Obama's Red Line Crossed. Now what?
Posted by: Chuck Hagel ()
Date: April 25, 2013 12:50PM

"(CNN) -- The United States has evidence that the chemical weapon sarin has been used in Syria on a small scale, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Thursday."

What happens is nuthin.

Nobody takes Obama's threats seriously because they know that he'll do nothing more than give another teleprompter-scripted speech wagging his finger.

One of the first to accuse Syria, the Brits are saying it's impossible to prove without going into Syria to take samples.

The whole world knows that Obama is an empty suit making idle threats. What is he going to do? That's right, nothing.

He's already waging war against Syria and has been for over a year.

The above only discusses training and arming the rebels, but embedded foreign special ops soldiers within the rebel forces has been an open secret. One of the British paper published a photo of their special foces fighting with the rebels.

He'll send them a letter saying how upset he is with them, with a check enclosed.

two checks. The first one with "VOID" written on it for a slightly larger amount than the second.

Also, nobody takes them seriously because there's just as much evidence that the rebels used it as there is that the government used it.

Chemical weapons not withstanding, I am starting to think we may be backing the wrong side on this conflict. The rebels are radicalizing and aligning with al-Qa'ida. No boy scouts, but the current regime's Alawites are secular Muslims. They drink wine and celebrate Christmas. I say stay out of this goat rope and let it sort itself out.

Soil samples came from an earlier conflict in Homs. There were charges that chemical weapons were used at that time.

US has been using Islamic jihadists for a long time to wage a covert war against governments allied with the former Soviet Union. Saudi Arabia, Israel, Qatar, and Yemen have been working with the US.

Where the targeted country has a substantial military force, as with Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya, and Syria, US intervenes militarily...eventually.

Anti-government forces in that region, with the exception of Iran, will almost always be backed by Muslim radicals. Often, the people fighting for freedom will be unaware of which direction things are going to go if they win.

Iran is the exception here because they already went that direction in the 1970's.

A "pro-freedom" government overthrow almost universally ends in a stronger dictatorship.

They're fighting for oil. Israeli and US firms have already started oil drilling in the Syrian Golan Heights. Opposition groups in Iraq,Libya, and Syria promised US government backers oil contracts in exchange for support.

You're right... that is the biggest motivating interest of those who will actually make the controlling moves in this game.

But that's not the motivation of the general populace. They are pawns in a contest that they can't hope to understand. Most of them want to know that they're safe, and that they'll be fed and allowed to raise their children in peace. They will be sorely disappointed at how this game ends.

The "Arab Spring" was a complete misnomer. This will be a decade or more of turmoil, killing, and starvation with each of local players becoming progressively weaker and less stable.

We need to turn the whole region into "glass". Iran, Irag, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, and a few others for good measure. These countries and their people have hated Christianity for thousands of years and our policy makers foolishly think we can change that? After 10 years in Iraq......what did we accomplish? Fuck all nothing!

Yes, there's a lot of hatred. It dates back to the time that we first crossed the continent to slaughter them and pillage thier homes.

We haven't improved our behavior very much since then... in fact, we cross the entire planet to seek them out now, but at least the Catholic church isn't offering absolution of sins in exchange for Muslim heads anymore.

How can we claim to be "liberators" and expect them to love us when half (or more) of this country can't be bothered to understand that the average Muslim isn't so very different than us?

Actually, they kind of attacked us first. Read about the Moors in Spain and their invasions that were repelled by Charles Martel. The hatred is really based on religion. We are Jewish/Christian. They are Muslim; we are not. Therefore, we are the infidel. The Koran commands the slaying of the infidel.

IF you chickenhawk pieces of sh*t are so eager for war on another front, that's going to put more American service members who are alive today in coffins, why don't you scurvy vermin make sure you're in the first helicopter to hit the landing zone.

Did they attack Americans or your home town? No!! Then how is it any of our business?

Our military is to defend the US not every evolved ape everywhere on the planet.

If you are so eager for Americans to get into this go over there and be among the first to die, asshole.
