I can understand why some people collect music cassettes, record albums, VCR's and VHS tapes, but is there any legitimate reason for somebody to hold on to their old CRT television set?

I can understand why some people collect music cassettes, record albums, VCR's and even VHS tapes, but is there any legitimate reason for somebody to hold on to their old CRT television set?

Just take them to Best Buy. They recycle electronics for free.

About three years ago, I had a late 1990's CRT television up for sale at a yard sale which didn't sell. That should have been my first clue...

On the way to driving it to the Key Bridge so I could drop it in the Potomac, I drove by a pawn shop in Bailey's Crossroads that had a huge sign on a mini-van parked out front that said, "WE BUY EVERYTHING!"

So, I parked and went inside where there was some Tamerlan Tsarnaev looking mother-fucker behind the counter. I asked him if he was buying TV's and he put down the gun he was polishing and through his cigarette said, "TV's? Brother, I'm always buying TVs! What have you got?"

I went out to the car and lugged it back inside. As I entered the store again, Marathon Bomber said, "No! No! No! We don't take that CRT bull-sheet!"

I looked at him like the foreigner he was and said, "It seems you're not...ALWAYS buying TVs now does it? Oh...and you need a new sign because you aren't buying EVERYTHING either...BROTHER." I left the CRT on his sidewalk and drove home. That was my second clue...

You can't give those fuckers away. I had to lug my 40 inch 350 pound bubble glass tv from a third floor apt.
I put out adds just to pick it up for free, no calls on that shit. to think I paid $900 for the fucker in 2001. I was glad when it slipped off the dolly and kart wheeled down the last flight of stairs. Funny thing is, It worked great until the stair ride to TV heaven.

I still have an old CRT TV with built-in DVD player and VCR. It's quite handy if I feel like watching some of the old home made porn tapes starrring ex- girlfriends. I should either digitize them or throw them out though.

I sold a 36" Sony CRT to some Craigslist guy about 5 yrs ago when I switched to the flats.

I see CRT's and jumbo floor models being given away free all the time now.

Not true! Take them on Electric Sundays (every month or two at the dump off West Ox). Crowded, but fast and free. You don't even have to get out of the car.

They will still pass on it. Trust me, you can't give those older tv's away. Pawn shops refuse them.

it's not even a money thing, people around here are just more up to date in their expectations. crt's take up alot of space and are outdated. i offered mine to a recent somali immigrant I know for free and he was like shaking his head "no thanks". your best bet is to find some old redneck from culpeper who has room for an extra TV in his garage and doesn't mind picking up and hauling the thing. older people don't mind old crap.

Not only are they heavy pieces of shit, the picture SUUUUCKS! Every time I go from my home with my sweet ass 55" Samsung over to grandma's house, I'm stuck watching her shows with her on a blurry 27" console TV that is big enough to be gutted out and used as her coffin someday.

I have offered to buy her a new one but she refuses. I swear I'm gonna drag that POS out to the street on a wheeled dolly, douse it in gasoline, toss a match and watch it roll down the hill.

You got that image from a classifieds listing in Kentucky. Google reverse image search comes in handy during times like these.

There is ONE reason. To use the screen as a massive solar death ray.
