hortly after the fatal shooting of a police officer on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Thursday night, a second shooting incident was reported in Watertown, Mass.

Chatter on the police scanner revealed confusion on the scene as officers reported gunfire, explosions and chaos at the intersection of Laurel and Dexter Streets. Heavily armed officers from Homeland Security have been spotted in the area, as have members of the FBI and National Guard. Helicopters are currently using search lights to illuminate the darkened neighborhood.

FBI now says suspect in custody is NOT related to bombing.

One pic that I saw on Twitter looked like a younger black guy being arrested.

Guess we'll see how this plays out.

Something bigger than normal going on but could end up just being overreaction given the bombings and location.

I do believe these were the bombers. The dead suspect had a bomb vest on and blew himself up when the police caught up to him.

I can't believe they were bold enough to stay in the MA area after everything. Oh well, one dead, the other hopefully will be caught before he hurts or kills anyone else.

Per scanner traffic, bean bag (non lethal) rounds have been requested to subdue and apprehend Tripathi. However, Mulugeta was wearing an svied (explosive vest) so, Tripathi likely is as well, so they may not be able to take him alive even if they try.
