I've never even been tempted to post about a driver here, but I'm still shaking my head at what I just saw about half an hour ago. There was at least one child in the van, and it appears that this woman might be other kids around.
A Gray/Silver Ford Econoline van with the VA "Children First" license plate "KHAL1D" almost caused an accident changing lanes without a signal on Edsall. The driver she narrowly missed honked, so she floored it, and cut him off a little further down. I was behind the second driver.
At Eisenhower and Van Dorn, she wasn't paying attention, and once all the other cars had pulled away he gave a pretty quick honk, and she took off up the hill toward Franconia.
Coming up the hill on Van Dorn just before the Comfort Inn, he signalled and shifted to the right, passing her. As he did, she almost hit him again (no turn signal), so he honked once more. She fell in just a foot or two behind him, and I was torn between laughing and bracing myself for the likely impact.
They both shifted to the left at about the same time, and she laid on the horn as if it were personal. I guess it did become personal then, because he "flicked her off". Not cool, really, but honestly, I had trouble blaming him - she was clearly a menace. She went apeshit at this point... she started honking as if her horn were a death-ray, and she could just make him disintegrate.
In the space of a next half mile, she must've made five or six lane changes through traffic, honking the whole time, trying to catch up with him. He stayed to the left (I was behind him again) and she kept honking, managing to get beside him briefly. I was wishing for a camera... I thought he was going to be shot.
She ended up dodging right again, and I think she made a right turn onto Franconia while he and I were in the left turn lane.
I've rarely seen anything of this magnitude, and never from a woman with a kid in the car. The van appeared to be outfitted as a bus, though I can't say that for sure. The rest of the way home I was thinking about the likelihood that other parents trust her with their kids every day...
So, here it is. Do with it (and your kids) as you will.
