JCPENNY is failing because they sell only to grandmas and hipsters.

The clothing is horrible and you can never find decent bed covers because the bed covers are almost always paisley patterns of swirly crap that never looks good except to the mind set of old ladies and hipsters that do not have any fashion sense.

Im trying to figure how Sears is still around. You go in one of their stores and it's like the aftermath of a nuclear war..........IF you can even find an employee, it's usually a burnt out high school kid that couldnt give a crap if you lived or died.

It always has. Same with Sears. I really don't know why people still shop at these stores. They are depressing as hell. I don't think they are trying to appeal to the elderly demographic; I think they're trying to appeal to poor bumpkins.

No one beats depressing like K mart. I don't think they even have loss prevention any more....might be worth checking out later.

@eesh- no loss prevention? Makes me wanna go.

Where the fuck is JCP anymore? Landmark?

If I can't name one off the top of my head, it shows how irrelevant they are.

Yes, Kmart is most depressing. The one on Sudley still has signs for Dreamcast and VHS hanging on the wall in electronics.

There's still a JC penny at Fair Oaks mall.

Kmart is a wreck. I stopped in that Fairfax location a few weeks ago, what a mess. Dingy, outdated, and really crowded.

Another slum adventure is the Marshall's in Tysons Corner. I went in there for a dress shirt last month, it looked like someone took everything off the shelves and then just tossed it randomly back on a shelf somewhere. Really disorganized, and alot of ugly shirts, stuff other places can't sell.

I would say the most depressing store of all would be Maxway (they aren't in the DC area.) They look like the clothing store out of Napoleon Dynamite. Until the last year or so they were still selling new VCRs and CRT TVs.

I shop online at Penney's for four things: Stafford dress shirts for my husband (nice wrinkle-free shirts at a good price), Dockers (they have extra short, which no one else does), Arizona jeans for my son, and a comforter brand I've been buying for years. There is no way I'm actually going to go into one of their stores, however.

Kmart is the 10th circle of hell. I have no idea how they stay in business. I can get anything I need there for the same price or less at Walmart, and the environment is nicer (although that's not saying much).

JCPenny, now JCP, is failing because they don't do any marketing and have failed to reinvent their image as a 21th century brand.

Plus I think Meade buys some of the clothing there when he get a gift card on his birthday. We know he gets the rest from thrift shops and Goodwill.
