Isn't it the worst feeling when you're in a restaurant or club and they have a bathroom attendant hovering above the sink?? Does anyone actually like having this person there? It's so AWKWARD!!

2nd, what a terrible job!!! Why does it exist? The poor attendant has to listen to people shit all day, and people are always annoyed that you are even present. How awful.

Whoever invented this degrading profession, do the world a favor and abolish it.

No, but I would treat every patron as if I were Alfred and they were Batman. The only thing better than pretending to be Batman is getting treated like you're Batman. I'm a nice guy. I'd like to give that to people.

No. Most people are generally not inclined to absolutely wreck a toilet when there's someone sitting there who watched them go in and will watch them come out. People use the courtesy flush with more frequency, too.

They can spray something if someone starts to overpower the bathroom. If there's a mess, it's taken care of immediately. They can tell you a good place to go when the bar closes. Some of them have mints and mouthwash and the really fancy ones have cologne in case you need to freshen up your Drakkar Noir.

There is no downside to having a bathroom attendant. It's a guy that makes sure you leave the bathroom better than you went in. They're not those window-cleaning homeless guys. If you don't want their help, tell them you don't want their help and don't tip them. They just want to make sure you go back to your date feeling fresh after shitting out that questionable microwave burrito you had for lunch, but whatever.

I like them because they keep a pack of Huggies baby Wipes and tenderly clean my bottom after a massive dump. For this, I tip generously! Lower class establishments sometimes have their 'gentlemen's gentleman' use the off-brand from Kirkland, but that's ok too. An offering of some cologne, use of a comb, and a wisk broom to chase away any lint is always appreciated.

And why are there no female attendants? Seems like an equal opportunity opportunity for some enterprising and comely young lasses. It always seems to be older Negro men in this role. But the good thing there is how it reminds me of the Old South and that the spirit of Dixie is alive.

There was a bathroom attendant up in New York who would go around pounding on the bathroom stalls and shouting the "N word", the dude was nuts. It was scary cuz he acted like he was about to totally snap. Imagine if you were trying to take a dump and some nutcase was shouting racial slurs and banging on the door.

When i go to the bathroom, I would prefer NO ONE to be in there.

Never thought about this until now but next time I see one here's my plan:

Giving the guy $1 first thing when I walk in will let the attendant know that while I aprreciate him keeping the place clean I won't be needing any additional help.

I suppose it could be a little irritating if they don't get the hint and still start trying to do stuff for me that I'm perfectly capable of doing myself.
