There are a lot of dumbshits posting suddenly. This website was linked from a couple other forum sites and the cops doing donuts video was mirrored somewhere popular with the fairfaxunderground.com watermark.
soooooooooooooooooo, we have a flood of idiots. a lot of them posting under different names as unregistered users.
if you encounter some junk post their names here and i'll consider a ban

Its the internet, there will always be trolls. and just because you disagree with someone, or someone disagrees with you doesnt make them a troll.

If it gets out of hand I'll figure something out. I hate the threads to be clogged with bullshit posts but that's what happens when you run a public message board. I just wish I had a way to let users filter out the bullshit if they so choose.

I guess the only way to filter would be to switch to forum software that has "ignore user" functionality. Or maybe this one does too but there are clear disadvantages to switching, such as possibly losing all the current forums' messages.

Thanks Cary... I wouldn't feel bad about it at all and I'm sure the forum appreciates it. He had nothing to contribute apart from trolling posts and physical threats to members. I can't remember if there was any "this is what will get you banned" language in the forum signup process but maybe there should be some... no excessive trolling posts, threats to members either in public posts or via PM will not be tolerated, etc. The forum is a fine tool for discussions of topics related to Fairfax County and whatever else but this shouldn't be the place for what that guy was up to.

For quite some time I've been meaning to edit the first "come now don't be shy" sticky post to make it much more professional sounding, add information about the basic goals of this site, and lay down some minimal ground rules.
