I have some doubts about the NE validity, however, no it does not surprise

I'm still waiting for the National Enquirer to endose a candidate.

I hope that is not true. Why would he have an affair since he has been married to Elizabeth for so long. I do not belive it. Plus that Rielle lady looks awful. Her hair is bleached and all dried out and she is not even pretty.

For poorElizabeth's sake, I hope there is no truth to this. She is still suffering from cancer and you know it's going to come back.

He hasn't been a Senator for quite some time. He is just a slick lawyer pounding a horse-faced broad while his wife is dying of cancer. Class act all the way.

It shouldn't really matter in this election because John McCain is known to have cheated on his first wife.

I think cheating is a pretty shitty thing to do, but I think people in this country take it WAY too seriously.

The sick part about this is if that is his baby and you calculate backwards (18 months?), he was banging this chick around the time his wife first found out she had cancer. What a jackass.

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extra-marital affair with a novice film-maker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.

In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.

Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.

Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

A former campaign aide, Andrew Young, has said he was the father of the child.

According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.

Edwards said the affair began during the campaign after she was hired. Hunter traveled with Edwards around the country and to Africa.

Edwards said his wife, Elizabeth, and others in his family became aware of the affair in 2006.

Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife's cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.

When the National Enquirer first reported the alleged Edwards-Hunter affair last October 11, Edwards, his campaign staff and Hunter vociferously denounced the report.

"The story is false, it's completely untrue, it's ridiculous," Edwards told reporters then.

He repeated his denials just two weeks ago.

Edwards today admitted the National Enquirer was correct when it reported he had visited Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton last month.

The former Senator said his wife had not known about the meeting.

Since becoming pregnant, Hunter has lived under assumed names in a series of expensive homes in North Carolina and, more recently, in Santa Barbara, California.

Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going pubic but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him.

He said he would ask questions about any possible arrangement.

John Edwards has dropped out of the press. That shows you how liberal the press is. The only way to clear his name is a DNA test.

He said it wasn't his kid. I take it you don't believe him? I am not sure. The situation seems to point in the direction of it being his kid, but why not treat the revelation like taking off a band-aid? Rip it off all at once fast!

Agreed. While its totally no class to cheat on an ailing wife, people tend to overreact to other instances way too much.

Democrats seems politically confused, but it's not fair to generalize about personal demeanor based upon party affiliation. Plenty of caddish behavior on both sides of the aisle. The Edwards entry is on par with the Gingrich entry. Just not up to par with Slick Willie or the biggest dumb slob of all time Eliot Spitzer. Keep trying John.

Gingrich told is wife he was leaving her when she was in the hospital with cancer. And he was caught pounding a campaign volunteer on a desk in his campaign office. I think Newt is more on par with Slick Willy than you might think.

All that's left is an DNA test.

Most likely he didn't admit to his being the father when his wife found out about the affair. Now that it is in the open he has to deny that part since he probably never said anything about her being pregnant to his wife. I would also guess that based on the timing he probably told his wife it was over - and it wasn't - thus the baby being born in February may have some consequence as to when he actually admitted to his wife he was done with her.

Note the woman in question will not submit the child to a paternity test. Yet, that would be the easiest thing to defuse the worst of the situation as it now stands. IE he lied about an affair (but he had one) so now when he denies the baby is his, how can anyone believe him? Because he is such an honest guy? :)

Politicians suck. No matter what side of the aisle they are on - I have yet to see any of them that actually represent their constituents unless there is something for them to gain in influence by backing the issue.
