First off, nobody has read the NDAA law. It doesn't allow for indefinite detention of American citizens without a warrant. Actually, it explicitly prohibits it. Gun control is another issue: the government can place REASONABLE restrictions on the sale of guns. Our rights have limitations. As for the aliens, that was illegal. Obama has overstepped his bounds on some things. For example, the involvement in Libya did technically violate the War Powers Resolution. However, the War Powers Resolution is unconstitutional by itself.

Alexander Hamilton advocated for a king-like president. The scale shifts cyclically. Washington-Monroe were examples of executive power. Quincy Adams-FDR was more or less legislative. Let me preface this by saying 300 million people are not voting. Voter turnout tends to be about 60% for presidential elections. He won by approximately five million as well.

Now, I agree that the country is very polarized. I'm not going to blame it on racism like Rachel Maddow and MSNBC would have you believe. Simply put, it isn't racism. The reasoning is twofold. First, he promised a lot of things when he ran in 2008. The media put him on a pedestal and basically said "He is the chosen one to lead us from the recession."

Obama won the election; McCain was a better candidate than Romney, but he chose Sarah Palin. She's moderately attractive, but that's about all she offers. People see her for what she is: inept, inexperienced, and an airhead. Obama came into office. He had the honeymoon period, but it rapidly became apparent that he was floundering. While he had seemed reliable and congenial on the campaign trail, he showed his true colors in the Oval Office. Mainly? Obama is an arrogant and cold guy. He seems to think he's above many people.

He shoved a 787 million dollar stimulus through the Congress. For the most part, the stimulus only helped prevent job loss. It didn't create many new jobs or anything else. As 2009 turned to 2010, most people realized that Obama was nothing but rhetoric. Most of his vows were unfulfilled. The ones that were-like Obamacare-were pared down to bare minimums.

People were pissed; they elected Republicans in almost unparalelled numbers. As a result, 2011 and 2012 were filled with policy gridlock. This board reflects what I believe: people vote with their wallets. The economy sucks. Most of Obama's policies have either not been implemented or failed. The lack of economic growth is the second reason.

He's coming into office for a second term. Stagflation is looking more and more likely. We now have a black Jimmy Carter though! Celebrate the diversity!

- He has lied to the American people by overseeing a cover-up of the Benghazi attack which directly led to the deaths of four American citizens. The cover-up has been called “Obama’s Watergate,” yet four months after the incident, no one in the administration has been held accountable.

- He has brazenly undermined the power of Congress by insisting his authority came from the United Nations Security Council prior to the attack on Libya and that Congressional approval was not necessary. “I don’t even have to get to the Constitutional question,” said Obama. This is an act that “constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution,” according to Congressman Walter Jones.

- He has ignored Congressional rejection of the cybersecurity bill and instead indicated he will pursue an unconstitutional executive order.

- He has signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act which includes provisions that permit the abduction and military detention without trial of U.S. citizens, violating Habeas Corpus. Despite Obama claiming he would not use the provisions to incarcerate U.S. citizens, it was his administration that specifically demanded these powers be included in the final NDAA bill.

- He has enacted universal health care mandates that force Americans to buy health insurance, a clear violation of the Constitution in exceeding congressional power to regulate interstate commerce. Obama has also handed outpreferential waivers to corporations friendly to his administration.

- He has declared war on America’s coal industry by promising to bankrupt any company that attempts to build a new coal plant while using unconstitutional EPA regulations to strangle competition, ensuring Americans see their energy costs rise year after year.

- He has violated the Constitution’s Takings and Due Process Clauses when he bullied the secured creditors of automaker Chrysler into accepting 30 cents on the dollar while politically connected labor unions and preferential others received better deals.

- He has violated Article II of the Constitution by using signing statements as part of his executive usurpation of power.

He was elected by a majority vote...period. The Texas congressman can cry all he wants but Obama isn't going anywhere.

Yes, I agree that he's attempting to infringe upon the Second Amendment. However, the federal government can impose REASONABLE restrictions on the Second Amendment. The executive order by itself is of dubious constitutionality.

No, what's keeping the nation free is the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force. The "militia" hasn't used its own weapons since the Revolutionary War. The Army issues weapons. Stockman's argument is fallacious. I support the Second Amendment; I oppose stupidity.

Right, and the NRA's power has nothing to do with it. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the citizens of the country to form a well regulated militia. The phrase "well-regulated" implies a militia that 1. trains regularly, 2. has clearly designated leaders, and 3. is incorporated into a state. Most gun owners don't fit in any of these categories.

There are many subgroups within the Syrian resistance. It's unfair and inaccurate to say that they are being commanded by Al-Qaeda. The main resistance group (the Free Syrian Army) is a combination of ex-military officers and ex-politicians. There's some evidence of Al-Qaeda being involved. For the most part, Asaad has been claiming it. He's making the mistake most Americans make: characterizing every group with ambivalent feelings towards the US as Al-Qaeda.

The program started under George W. Bush.

War Powers Resolution

Congress loves the War Powers Resolution, except when it goes against its goals.

The bill explicitly states "US Citizens are exempt from this." Nobody has read the bill.
