i love the pho and we are lucky enough to have an abundance of pho joints in the county. ive had some home made versions that were delicious but like good pizza, the best have always been prepared by the professionals.

I've made my own pho a few times, and can tell you that you will be hard-pressed to make a duplicate of any recipe from the good pho shops around here. For starters, most places make their own broth from scratch, which can be a real hassle unless you have alot of time on your hands. I also found it impossible to get the right balance of ingredients in the broth... either too much ginger or star anise, etc.

It always came out OK, but not anywhere close to the magical elixir served at places like Pho 75. So I gave up and just go out for it now.

This thread makes me SO hungry....

Just came back with some carryout Pho from Pho 75, and noticed that the containers with the ingredients, as well as the amount of noodles inside, have shrunken considerably. Also, be aware that in most places, a charge of $0.50 will be added to any carryout order of Pho.

I think it's the charge for the tupperware.
