ANYONE KNOW HOW THIS SOCALIST PRESIDENT CAN SPEND SO MUCH ONE DAY? THIS IS BREAKING RECORED SPENDING. IN 2004 WHEN BUSH WAS RE-ELECTED THEY ONLY SPEND $500.00 DOLLARS OF TAX SPENDING DOLALRS THE REST BUSH AND THE RNC PAID FOR IT. IN 1984 WHEN REGAN WON 0.00 DOLLARS OF TAX PAYER DOLLARS WAS SPEND WHY IS THE MONKEY SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY?

Spending isn't a problem. There's always somebody who can pay a little more for critical government services like this. Fair share bro.

Don't you ever learn to question your sources? Every day, there is another story about some crazy thing Obama is doing or has done.
"Holiday Trees".
Third term?
Muslim?
Born in Kenya?
It is all crap, and gullible people want it to be true. Think for yourself for a minute. Do you really think the taxpayers are paying for this? Wake up. Doesn't it strike you as odd, or at least crazy, that these rumors still come out and are proven untrue, only to be followed by another. Is it possible that he is a good dude, wants to do right by the regular people in this country, and that you just disagree with him? Why is it always some huge conspiracy or violation?

On October 25, 2012, the Washington Examiner reported that the Mexico dinner cost taxpayers more than $4,700 per attendee for a total of $969,793. The sum dwarfs both the $840,616 spent by GSA on its October 2010 Vegas conference and the estimated $200,000 spent on each state dinner by previous administrations, according to Examiner. While there are no reports of GSA-style clowns or homemade rap videos at the Obama Administration’s state dinners, according to documents obtained by the Examiner:

“The Calderon dinner was held on the South Lawn in a massive tent adorned with decorated walls, hanging chandeliers, carpeting and a stage for Beyonce’s performance. Guests rode private trolley cars from the White House to the tent. Celebrity guest chef Rich Bayless from Chicago’s Topolobampo restaurant was imported to prepare Oaxacan black mole, black bean tamalon and grilled green beans.”

Obviously Obama is a bad person. Nothing good about him. He's scum. The guy sucks. He can't do anything right.

If he says the sky is blue, I'll accuse him of being a socialist.

No offense, OP but you're a fucking idiot.

A better question might be if a president, ANY president has been re-elected, why does he need to be sworn in again at all?

Does the oath have an expiration date?

I've never understood why the military requires this either.

Q: Did Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration really cost 4 times as much as George Bush’s 2005 inauguration?

A: Claims of a huge disparity are untrue. Actually, an apples-to-apples comparison shows that the two inaugurations likely cost about the same.

The reality is we don't need to do any parades. The President will be sworn in on Sunday the 20th with the parades, etc on the 21st. If this President was smart, he would get up and say we need to save money and focus on other things, to which people would applaud him as being fiscally responsible and great guy. Problem is, he won't.

Bullshit.

It bolsters the spirits of the nation to celebrate the inaugural of its elected leader. Inaugural balls and the like are paid for with private donations. The costs in taxpayer dollars, for security and the like, are minimal.

Never said don't have the balls, just the parade. The parade has been canceled before the country didn't wallow in despair as a result. We are in a finacial crisis, yet blowing millions for some people to drive down the street and watch a parade is ok?

Is it a combination of "graduation" and "Inauguration"?

Yes, as a line item in a $3.2 trillion budget, $5 million is minimal. Look @ it this way: $5 million is $0.016 (that's less than 2 cents) US resident.

Does that $5million cover the cost of paying all the DC fedreal employees to stay home for the day? DC covers a lot of costs out of pocket, what about those costs? What about the costs of neighboring jurisdictions who come to support the events.

It would be a class move to not have the parade and pocket even a little money.

That's a big part of why we're trillions in the hole. Everything is "...just a few million/billion."

We're "trillions in the hole" because:

1) The 2001 act and the 2003 act significantly lowered the marginal tax rates for nearly all U.S. taxpayers; and,

2) The tax base did not expand to make-up for the shortfall in tax revenues; and,

3) The economy severely contracted in 2008, plunging the US into a very deep recession; and,

2) We spent for $4 trillion on wars in Iraq & Afghanistan.

This is exactly true! Since we've already spent this much, let's spend $5 million more, who cares? Who's going to stop it or complain?

Uh, no.

We've been significantly in the hole continually since WWII other than for a couple of years during Clinton's term when things slowed and we had single-year, on-paper budget surpluses. And that was only because we had a windfall from captial gains resulting from the dot com boom after he lowered the rates and we didn't have time to spend it. That came to a crashing end and we made up for it the next year.

Out of control government spending is independent of party. The government and related debt continues to grow regardless who's in the chair.

All you kool-aid drinkers believe everything you hear about Obama being the greatest man in the world, winning the nobel peace prize, blah blah blah.

Why can't you people see the real facts, and listen to the only unbiased news sources like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News? Obama is the worst president in the history of the country, if not the world, and he's not even born in this country!

Why do you people continue to lap up everything the lamestream media feeds you, when the only truth tellers are on Fox News?

Geez, you people are sheep. Start watching Fox News and you'll soon learn the truth.

There is a news station out there for each of us. We find the one that will comfort us by supporting our own beliefs. It feels good to agree with other people and to imagine that those people agree with our thoughts too. Its not about truth, its about how it makes me feel in between commercial breaks.

We all drink the Kool-aid, just a different flavor.

The inauguration costs nothing. It sells airline tickets hotel rooms and fills reasturants for over a week all of which are taxed. It makes money bigtime.

"With second inaugurations tending to draw fewer spectators, finding a place to stay in Washington won’t be nearly as difficult as in 2009.

City officials are expecting 600,000 to 800,000 visitors for the Jan. 21 inauguration, far less than the 1.8 million people who flooded the National Mall four years ago to witness the inauguration of America’s first black president. Back then, some hotels sold out months in advance and city residents rented out their homes for hundreds of dollars a night. This time, hotels say they’re filling up more slowly, with rooms still available and prices at or slightly below where they were four years ago.

“Very few hotels are actually sold out at this point, so there’s a lot of availability,” said Elliott Ferguson, CEO of the tourism bureau Destination DC, who added that he expected demand to pick up after Christmas."

The Department of Defense picks up most of the cost of the innaguration. Why? Because it shows the world what a peaceful transition of power looks like. Money well spent.

If even 500,000 people come to town I think its reasonable to assume each of them would pay at least 20 dollars in various sales taxes which equals 10,000,000. Currently most motels as far away as Fredericksburg and Laurel MD are booked solid this weekend. This event is a huge shot in the arm to our local economy.
