"Happy Holidays"?

Is it just me or is there a severe lack of Christmas decorations in shopping centers this year?

Drove past Pan Am...........nothing.

Yorktown............nothing.

Anything across the street from Yorktown is just white lights that I believe are pretty much up year round.

Has the PC crowd won?

Won what?
Do you really believe there are people out there who bully others into not putting X-mas lights up?

My neighborhood has more x-mas lights up now, than it had 5 years ago.

You're kidding right?

"Calvary Chapel filed suit in U.S. District Court after Broward County
told the church it could not include the words "Jesus is the reason
for the season" in its annual gigantic Christmas light display.

The church argued that the light festival constitutes a public forum
and by denying its message, the county would violate its right to
free speech, religious expression and equal protection as guaranteed
by the Constitution.

Wednesday, Judge William Zloch ruled that the church can put up the
display, but must attribute the statement to the church: "Calvary
Chapel says Jesus is the reason for the season." The church says the
display will go up without the saying since the changed version won't
be ready for about a week.

Broward County officials say they are currently considering an
appeal.

The church's light display will be up through Dec. 30 which seems to
indicate that their "season" resembles the merchant's "Giftmas"
season instead of any type of liturgical season."

Smashing Christmas: Vandals Batter Holiday Decor

While elaborate lighting displays are making the season extra merry for delighted onlookers, not everyone is in the holiday spirit: three Christmas displays in different places in the country have been trashed by vandals this month.

Grinches tossed the baby Jesus from a nativity scene onto a homeowner’s driveway and battered other decorations in a subdivision in Milton, Ga.
In Port Charlotte, Fla., someone knocked over a lighting display in the shape of a Christmas tree and wreaked other havoc in a couple’s front yard.

And at a Fairfax Station, Va. home, surveillance cameras captured footage of two young men using baseball bats and their car to destroy holiday decor, causing at least an estimated $6,000 in damages.

Words are still words, even if they are in lights. No one would give two shits about the lights if they didn't form words that the general public has to drive past every day and expose the children to.

If you are okay with them doing that, then you must be okay with seeing "Communism is the best way" at another place that people drive by.

Personally, I don't give a shit either way, but I can see how some people can find it offensive.

I'm a Obama lovin' liberal, but not letting a church display Christmas decorations in the fashion that they wish to is a clear violation of the first amendment. A public building having that up would inappropriate, but a place of worship doing that is entirely within reason. Why can't people mind their own business anymore?

Because they're just wanting to be irritating little fuckers who feign offense at anything remotely Christian.

But you can build a big ass mosque with flashing neon and search lights and they'll be cool with that.

Even the atheists find your rant tiresome, so they're throwing up some lights to spite you.

I was referring to commercial shopping centers. Not malls as obviously they have to cater to the wallets filling them. But strip centers. Most of which are managed by a half dozen firms. It appears to me that they've buckled under and decided that if they change nothing, they take no chance of offending anyone.

As for the public side, don't know where you live but there are far less decorations in my neighborhood than there has ever been. Of course, there are only six families on my street that have lived here longer than ten years. The rest are middle eastern or asian.

Maybe they just want to save money. It's probably not cheap, and I doubt the decorations attract new business. Not sure what's in Yorktown, but I can't imagine people flocking to the Pan Am Shopping Center to just to see the christmas lights and load up on gifts at Safeway and MicroCenter.

Oh, right. The War on Christmas.
Yeah, like all atheists, I absolutely hate colorful lights, because nothing says christianity like inflatable snowmen, Santa and strings of LED's.
