Fairfax Underground 2012: The Year in Review
Posted by: eesh ()
Date: December 13, 2012 08:26PM

2012 was an eventful year for FFXU, possibly the most eventful in the seven year history of this site.

A recap:

January 11: Cary permanently bans Mr. Misery and reveals that he was the one behind the "Troll@AOL" screen name. It is also revealed that Alias (who is also permanently banned) shared Mr. Misery's account on more than one occasion.

January 16: A number of FFXU posters had been posting on 4LULZ, however when one poster commented on the 4LULZ administrator's place of work, the majority of users are banned en masse. Multiple people retaliate against the 4lulz administrator, resulting in a most entertaining thread here on Fairfax Underground.

January 19: Cary permanently bans the poster formerly known as inkahootz, for "flooding and spamming threads" and "degrading users' experience on this site."

May 21: "2concerned" joins Fairfax Underground with tales of a dancing black man at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Threats written by 2concerned against the principal of the school result in the real world lockdown of the school.

June 1: The racist and homophobic troll known as lizzie, who had been on the site since late 2009, is revealed to be a bisexual African American female from Fairfax City.

August 27: A photoshop of the user inkahootz riding a mechanical penis results in a seven day long DOS attack (from inkahootz) using CSS hacks and SQL injections.

September 3: Fairfax Underground taken offline for one week by hosting company.

November 29: FFXU users successfully bring down 4LULZ website permanently by reporting terms of service violations to Godaddy.

Gawd bless! I'm so sick of this backseat moderator bullshit... It's obvious that it's the same person and it's obvious that this person has an axe to grind against Cary... Your arguments are lame...

Cary's job isn't to enforce laws, dick... Cary's job is to protect freedom of speech on his forum.

It's not Cary's responsibility to play Bodyguard... It's not Cary's responsibility to uphold some kind of morality... CARY'S JOB IS TO PROTECT FREEDOM OF SPEECH ON HIS FORUM.

Cary doesn't take down certain QUESTIONABLE pictures because it's immoral (even though he may be disgusted by them)... He takes down borderline illegal pictures (like the possible child porn) because it could get his site shut down... or prevent people from posting on the site...

Cary doesn't delete spam posts and ban the users because spam is wrong... He deletes spam and bans the users because they can make the site inoperable...

Cary doesn't prohibit "outing" because he thinks outing is immoral... He prohibits outing because it restricts people's freedoms to post information... It makes people less inclined to post freely...

He keeps his PERSONAL feelings separate from this forum... He let's things he disagrees with remain on the site... He would (and probably has) protect(ed) the personal information of someone that he hated just to uphold his ideals... This is why I defend Cary... He sacrifices himself for the greater good...

You have every right to post your criticism of Cary on his forum... and he will leave it on the site for everyone to read... but seriously... What do you expect? What do you want? Why be so passive aggressive? If Cary's moderation practices irk you so much, why do you keep coming back?

SHOW SOME APPRECIATION, YOU SPOILED CUNT!

Cary might not have banned lizzie but he sure as shit did nothing to stop FFXU’s users from doing something far worse to her than any ban could ever have been. (which she would have just ignored anyway)

Have years past been this crazy or was this one particularly chaotic, even by FFXU’s demented standards?

I don’t know that his name was ever posted here (of if it is even known) but he made a very amateur mistake of posting an exif data filled photo of his office, which actually showed the intersection outside where he worked. Enter the exif data into a certain site (I forget which off the top of my head) and you will be taken to the exact point the picture was taken. Couple that with the actual photo itself and it would not be that hard to figure out the exact room he worked in. I don't know anything about him getting in trouble at work over his activities here.

That’s all it takes.

This could be called the year of the fiasco. We have three epic ones for sure

the “penis rider” fiasco

the 2con fiasco

the 4LULZ fiasco

It's a tough call but the "penis rider" fiasco was the most epic in my opinion. Nothing else got the site taken offline for a week.

BTYB was a victim of lizzie and inkahootz, as Cary revealed that the majority of those outing posts came from those two.

I don't know what happened to WTL, I have a feeling he still lurks though.

JBass, as Northman noted, seemed to leave after he posted a pic of him with beer at work, a pic that revealed GPS information.

Registered Voter left after his biggest supporter/wingman, mcsmack, was revealed to be a registered sex offender.

Yagirl hasn't left, she keeps leaving and returning every few months.

I look at mcsmack the registered sex offender as a lesson that you never know who you are talking to online.

I'll admit, at first the multiple Rusty Hall threads were annoying. But then they grew on me. There has to be at least 12-15 different WNC/rusty threads. That poor guy. Lol.

Yes, friskydingo does get credit for that whole 4lulz incident. An innocent remark by him referring to the Australian embassy got the whole thing started.

It was easy, the two of them, Elle Diabla and Puddin Taine had spent years on various forums airing out their personal lives to everyone. It was just a matter of aggregating the information in one thread.

The thread where eesh actually went to a Meade performance was a highlight. After all these years, someone from here finally showed up at one. This thread made me laugh.

Lol! That one woman looked like she was 2 seconds away from assaulting eesh with a tambourine.

I have you now.

Did eesh actually go to the performance, or did he just go to get himself a cup of coffee and it just so happened that Meade was performing there?

I ask only because I'm not sure eesh'd be arsed enough to go out of his way to see Meade perform.

I totally missed that thread! Reading it now, it's still funny. Especially when eesh says that Meade kinda figured out what he was up to.

eesh posted on this site that he was going to do this well in advance. We know how Meade & Co. lurk here so I doubt it took long for them to make the connection. Just look at the woman on the left in the second picture. That should tell you all you need to know.

I have you now.

"We" also missed your mongoloid ass attempting to bump the thread with your phone number in it off the front page of Fairfax General by inanely bumping random threads. Please kill yourself as soon as possible, and take as many family members as you can with you. Thanks.

I never understood why that guy cared if people knew who he was. He wasn't controversial, he wasn't a troll, and he wasn't a shit-stirrer.

Radiophile posted a Youtube video of his computer monitor, I don't remember what the content was about. Anyway, someone here noticed his email account was on the screen and included his full name. The rest is history.

He was a pretty benevolent poster, someone here seems to have it in for him though.

Because they went after his wife. That was so low.

Remember that thread he started where he suggested that guys ask girls to dance? That was very controversial. How dare he broach a subject so divisive!

That has got to be one of the most controversial discussions ever on FXU. He really made a lot of enemies with that one.

Suggesting a guy ask a lady to dance...? Who the hell did he think he is? That was just wrong!

December 18: Fairfax High School student names, student identification numbers, final exam grades, 4th quarter grades, and final grades for the 2011-12 school year are leaked on Fairfax Underground. Fairfax Public Schools threaten legal and civil action against website.
