Rightly got what he deserved...
I wish it was that expedient for all these killers instead of keeping them in jail.

Look, we don't live in some third world country where it's OK for prison guards to murder inmates. And I'm sure the folks over at the Justice Department agree, as would most normal Americans that believe in the constitution.

This is pretty fuckin' ridiculous if you ask me.

+1. I'm a little tired of all levels of government, from the citizenry all the way up thru Congress and the executive branch, forgetting that we have a Constitution and that if we stop following it we aren't the United States of America anymore.

I know from a family member in CA state prison that people REGULARLY get the shit beat out of them with batons while handcuffed (they really like to do this on the transport bus between facilities). Or a case where a prisoner was given one aspirin for a heart attack and sent back to their cell to later die. ETC.

But in all fairness correctional officers do get killed as well (again more at the state level)

I can imagine county/jail facilities would be a little better than state but basically once you are locked up your rights are only on paper.

DOJ stats for prisoner deaths

In 2005 there was 1,054 total inmate deaths in jails,
3,179 total inmate deaths state prisons (not counting executions)

(I don't see a note for deaths in federal or private/outsourced prisons)

I'm sure they just thought this would be a rough-up, but now the two guards who were on duty that night in the solitary confinement wing will be tried as accessories to murder. What do you want to bet they sing like birds?

What prison guard is going to want to go to prision...and now the FBI is involved.

You guys seriously fucked up this one and the rest of your life.

I'm sure their attorneys will negotiate protective segregated custody where they put ex cops and guards and informants and celebrities (the lucky ones at least). They just better hope there is never a riot and the general population comes and gives them a visit.

Now every time the PG County police do an anti-gang function and tell the gang bangers to 'stop the cycle of violence', they'll just respond that the PG Co.PD kills those that kill their homies. And they'll be correct. So why shouldn't the gang members do the same?

You know what's worse than a thug? A thug with a badge.

I don't have a bleeding-heart about prisoners rights. In fact, I'm pretty indifferent toward people who are stupid enough to wind up in prison. They belong where they are.

What's fucked up is that our system of justice hires thugs that feel they are above the law, and can subvert due process by breaking a prisoners neck.

Who knows what happened there? For all I know, some goon with a badge got paid off to murder someone. Dirty Harry was a cool movie, but it shouldn't be reality.

At this point, the gang and the government are no different.

The stories picked up by the wire sure make this sound like a very probable case of vigilante justice - not one of the stops on the path to civilization.

What an ignorant statement. Do you have evidence the PG County police were involved in this? The police department does not operate the jails. Completely separate entity.

i agree. however, it's not just their feeling that they are above the law because past and recent events have shown they are in fact untouchable. i wouldnt be surprised if evidence goes missing in this case.

Oh, pahleeez forgive me. I was just looking at who had a motive. Let's see. Who else could it be.. Hmmmm... Maybe it was ...someone not connected to the police?? Very tricky, as he was in solitary confinement. I suppose the jail guards could have done the whole thing -gone in and beat him, rather than let someone in who had a motive.

The jail guards are clearly going down. Who else? Maybe the police since I think they had motive & opportunity, but yes. You are correct. I have no evidence of that.

Either way, it's another feather in PG County's cap.

No way, the kid got what he deserved. I am sure one of the guards "accidently" snapped his neck. For all you know he could have been good friends with him and was pissed off.I thought it would be more along the lines of food poisening. The family no longer has their father/husband. I am sure the family of the kid are going to sue up the ass and make a big news splash about it. To be honest, that kid is better off dead then spending the rest of his life in jail or at least I think that would be my personal preference if I was looking for life in prison at the age of 19. This might sound cruel and "un-American" but it's true.

According to news4, the two guards who were on duty are refusing to cooperate and have hired attorneys. Bet they're gonna love their stay in prison when it's all over. Did these guys really think they were going to get away with this crap?

Yeah, I know. Whenever I post from my phone, the stupid T9 always caps every word. I've looked everywhere to find sentence caps....it's not in there.

That will NEVER happen....They would sit in prison before they cross "The Blue Line".
