Bama and the SEC are overrated.

There are some good teams in the conference but I think everyone knows they are overrated. What do you expect? ESPN has to protect their investment. The fans are the worst. They like to brag about winning bowl games when they are pretty much played at home. For example, the gators beat the buckeyes in the national championship which was held in jacksonville, fla. The Lsu tigers beat the same team in the NC at the super bowl. If ya'll wanna play football in the winter time, then why dont you bring your bitch asses up north and play in the winter?

Didn't Alabama win a national championship at the Rose Bowl a few years ago? Hardly a home game...Auburn won in Arizona for thier championship.

MG: Sure, some SEC teams might be overrated; you have that elsewhere. Every year, the media hypes Oregon but look what happened vs. LSU in TX in 2011. This year, look at “The Ohio State” and ND. Coach Meyer did a great job in his 1st year but the team needed OT to beat Purdue and Wisconsin and beat Mich State by 1. ND struggled with Michigan and went to OT to beat Pitt and Stanford. Coaches Kelly and Meyer will have their programs very competitive by the time the playoff system starts. Right now, people tend to remember bowl losses The Ohio State had in 2007 (#1 Buckeyes 14, FL 41), 2008 (LSU) and 2009 (Texas).

Be smart: don’t generalize about the SEC or its fans. We have much respect for teams we play inside and outside of conference. Every player will tell you to worry about 3 things: 1) win the home state rivalry game; 2) win the division, and 3) win the SEC. That’s how it is in every league. Commentators look back and say “how great” the SEC is, but you won’t hear that from players. When we played Penn St. in the ’97 Gator, Coach Spurrier said they’d be tough and he was right. We’d just beaten FSU and saw how Michigan State hammered Penn St. I’m telling you, Penn St was as tough as anybody we played and the game was a close 21-6. The same for 2 years ago when Auburn squeaked by Oregon in AZ, 22-19. The SEC is like everywhere-- cyclic. Auburn won the SEC and nat'l title 2 years ago but stunk this year. Arkansas finished in the AP top 5 last year but look now after Petrino-gate. Tennessee is down; Vandy is rising. South Car w/o Lattimore struggles as do Miss and now Missouri.

Maybe schedule has helped the SEC some. Each each of the past 6 champs played at 1 least one BCS qualifier in a NONCONFERENCE reg season game. My Gators played 2 in 2008. It’s all cyclic and teams like The Ohio State, ND, Southern Cal (we know the real USC is in the SEC, just joking), and Miami back on top before you know it.

The teams at the top of the SEC are among the very best in football. You just cannot argue with 6 national championships in a row. I agree that they are given the benefit of the doubt sometimes which is unfair. But their bowl record playing OOC over the last 6 years is spectacular as well. My biggest problem is that the preseason rankings are unfair and should be done away with.

That being said if you are saying Georgia Alabama and Florida would not be able to compete with any team in the country, sorry I think they absolutely could and would classify you as a hater. But that is okay it is normal for people to hate on the best.

Totally agree. Anybody who says that the top 3-4 teams in the SEC are overrated is just not looking as what's happened on the field. The one post makes a good point that The Ohio State and ND are back or are coming back. Right now, though, the talent and the wins are in the SEC. Look at Alabama's roster, too. You see 1 player on it from the ENTIRE Midwest. That's all. Alabama lost 6 starters on D, its 2 best receivers and 1 Heisman finalist and reloaded all with players from SEC territory. I think Meyer and Kelly will start getting more talent to their schools from the Midwest and elsewhere and you'll see more balance soon. Right now, though, enjoy the football and don't get hung up on where it's played.
