And since you are such a "close friend" to Amanda, did you happen to give her a lecture about underage drinking, smoking marijuana, the idiocy of putting your real name and personal information on the internet, and the danger of accompanying this information with nude or semi-nude pictures of herself? All of these things were shown by this immature, spoiled, and naive teenager. She didn't deserve all the attention she got, but hopefully she learned a lesson that your behavior has consequences and she ought to consider that a lot more in the future.

FWIW, I live in FCE and know several of the lifeguards from last year who essentially confirm the comments from JFathem. That said, Misplaced Anger and others upthread are correct that Amanda Wenk is not an innocent bystander in all of this who had DOZENS of inappropriate pictures of herself posted on the Internet. Unlike many identity theft who do nothing more than make a seemingly innocent online purchase, Amanda not only engaged in illegal and/or inappropriate behaviour, but also allowed a permanent record to be made which was then knowingly posted the pictures.

Did she have some expectation of privacy from MySpace, Flickr, et al? Probably, but she was naive and received little, if any, guidance about this information could explode exponentially through just a few bad choices. As the parent of teenagers 15 & 18 I have spent a lot of time educating them about these sites and the need to carefully consider what you post. Facebook is even more insidious (sp?) and I really wonder when parents stopped teaching their kids common sense.

Perverted Justice and FCPD have no case here, expect if people are making the bad choice to stalk or otherwise intimidate her. Hopefully, however, there was a lesson learned that can be shared with others.

While yes she is a kind of internet celebrity, and this thread is technically on-topic because she's from this area, it gets far too much attention from search engines and people outside of northern virginia to justify it staying in the Fairfax General forum.
