Bad Driver - Sudley Road (Rt. 234) by Catharpin Road

What is it with impatient drivers nowadays. I was pulling out onto Rt 234, Sudley Road, southbound after determining that a vehicle heading southbound was still far enough away which would give me room to accelerate. Boy, was I wrong. This driver was going far in excess of 70 MPH and blew by my car in a double-lane, no-passing zone.

Vehicle: Toyota Tundra 4x4 Pickup
Vehicle Color: Gold / Tan
Vehicle License: XXC-6563, with a Pittsburg Steelers license plate frame.

It wasn't hard for me to get his information, in spite of him blowing by me and keeping a high rate of speed down 234 ... which came to a crawl when reaching Gum Spring Road.

Slow the hell down, follow the rules of the road and maybe some lives might be saved!

People appear to be beyond impatient behind the wheel. Distractions with everyday life. In a hurry to work, school, college, etc. The best advice I have for you is to contact Prince William County Police immediatelly and file a report. Safety saves lives.

So now the guy with Toyota hires a lawyer and says "That jerk is lying about me PUBLICLY; she pulled in front of me when I was coming down the road!" and sues for libel.

Regardless of how fast the other car was going, it was your responsibility to correctly estimate their speed and ensure that you could safely pull out in front of them. And if the other driver has to take action to avoid hitting you, whether hitting their brakes or swerving into another lane, then it was not safe to pull out there. It was your failure to judge their speed that created the unsafe situation.

Letting them pass so they can get the speeding ticket they deserve is a better option than pulling out, getting hit, and then -you- being cited for "ยง 46.2-863. Failure to yield right-of-way."

Drive safely. IF not, take an improvement driver course through DMV or have a family or close friend help you and point out driving safely.

Think about that.
