WHAT IS ALL THIS BANGING NOISE???

I'm in Manassas, and for the past 24 hours there's been some crazy loud banging noises. I can tell it's far off in the distance, but that's what I mean by loud, I can still hear it, and a couple of the booms I can actually FEEL. Is there some crazy construction or mining going on today???

On a related note - over the past 48 hours, I've noticed a LOT more train horn usage than normal (again, off in the distance)...what's with that???
