Mathis Ave House/Mansion

Been living in the area about 5 years now...

Drive down Mathis all the time in Manassas, if you pass the shopping center on your left with the deli and Dragon Song records on the right there is a gated drive way that leads down to what looks like a large house or mansion.

The property is posted with "no trespassing" signs and there is what looks like a blank historical marker to the left of the driveway. Does anybody know the story behind this place? It has bugged me ever since I noticed it a few years ago.

I believe it's Anna burg Mannor. Used to be a private home but last was a nursing home.

it is indeed the Liberia Plantation, the address is sometimes listed as 8601 Portner Ave.

the latest Google imagery shows a new clearing in the trees near the house -- a visitor parking lot in the works, perhaps?

Annaburg is a few blocks to the west, between Sudley Rd. & Maple St.
