I've heard some rumor about there being a drug problem at Patriot High School. What's the deal?

There will be drugs at any high school.

Obviously, I am talking about a problem that goes beyond the norm. I have heard of several parents pulling kids midyear due to the issue.

Can confirm. Graduated last year at Patriot. Did drugs. Parents shouldn't blame the drugs, parents should blame themselves for isolating their kids away from drugs instead of educating. If you trap a concious mind within a reality that you are forcing upon it, nothing good will happen of it because being free is human nature.

Can also confirm. Drugs are an apparent "problem" in whatever school you choose to put your kids in. But, drugs aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. The public's opinion on drugs would go a long way if they held the same belief about say, alcohol? The way in which the media and older people in general glorify alcohol really contradicts the overall message of "drug prevention". With that said, drugs are and always will be tight.

What drugs?

Weed?

Booze is the worst drug there is but I'm sure most parents aren't pulling their kids bc high school kids binge drink at parties.

Fuck you and your propaganda nancy reagan

I'm talking about heroine and meth. We wouldn't be too concerned about marijuana. All schools have some fringe stoners. While there are drugs at every high school, I don't feel like every school has a drug problem.

I grew up here locally and there were not those hard kind of drugs in my high school.

'student' sounds depressed. Look up 'iodine therapy' at www.curezone.org to raise deficient iodine levels.

Drugs are everywhere, hard drugs, in every school. But I have to totally disagree with you, having worked in several of the high schools, PHS has less of a problem. The admin is tough and they have great security guys too. Not to mention their numbers of instances are lower than the other schools in the area.

You dumbfuck overly protective parents should be ashamed of yourselves.

Why don't you just do your kids a favor and shoot yourselves in the face?

That a way your kids will learn to be more independent. Do you plan on them
living in your house for the rest of their lives? You are trying to stop
them from growing up. Pulling them out of highschool? Keeping them from drugs?
Fuck. Your kids are always going to be depending on you.

Having a habit and being a slave/crack whore (men & women, included) isn't freedom - far from it. Last thing any family needs is a kid robbing his/her own family to feed his or her habit. At least children with parents' committed to keeping their kids habit-free will have provided a basic education for children to survive and ideally thrive when they go on to living on their own. Junkies will only know how to find their dealer to get their latest fix.

I don't have any idea whether there is a drug problem at Patriot H.S. I have attended a couple of the Football games there and know some of the students and I can't imagine that there would be a real problem with drugs in this area. I grew up in Chicago and have owned restaurants in Chicago and in North Virginia where I employed school aged kids and there is such a big difference in the kids in this area compared to some of the other places. Here the kids seem to be more aware and be much better educated about the potential consequences. My kids will be attending Patriot in a few years and I feel that they will be in a great school. I believe as long as parents are involved and pay attention to their kids they can hopefully nip any potential issues in the bud.

attention parents:

I just recently felt it necessary to pull my Junior from Patriot HS because of the growing issue involving drugs. I am a stay at home mother and have an open and honest loving relationship with my son and even I missed the fact that his friends were involved in Pot and eventually LSD. While at a get together after a game my son was with a group of students who has LSD tablets. my son came home that night and was very quiet and acted withdrawn. in the morning he told me about the night before and what happened, i contacted one of the mothers and alerted them to their sons involvement with possession with intent to distribute LSD and she mentioned it to her son...obviously. it wasn't much later that my son was threatened. while he wasn't afraid of this student...it was certainly enough of a wake up call for me to bring him home to finish his HS education. I asked so many questions and taught my son about peer pressure and the dangers of drugs, smoking and sex a long time ago...but when they are among their peers and away from you...you ever know what may happen. thankfully i have a friendship with my son and he came to me when he was in trouble. i am happy to report that he is doing great and we dont think about or have to deal with drugs again. I am one of the lucky ones. xxoo

Are you going to home school him for college ? You will need to ,unless you want to end up calling the parents of every kid at nova community college where your son will be attending.

Doesn't your son have the balls to just say no without ratting other kids out ?

Instead, you decide to home school him so you can wipe his ass when he shits. If he cant handle himself in society Good luck in ever getting him to leave home. (which is probably your goal)

Acid is awesome and what better time to experiment than when in high school.

I mean legally you are still a minor so the penalty for getting busted is less severe.

Chances are you don't have kids or other dependents and thus no real responsibilities in life.

What better time to do drugs?

Legalize LSD!

It's beyond time we (parents) do something about the troubled school environments paid for by our tax dollars. There are a lot of great teachers; but let's be honest, for most being a teacher is just a job.

As parents, we have to send our kids to school prepared to learn but we also have to support each other in numbers when trying to hold teachers who participate in bad behavior accountable. From the rapist to the grade tampers.

If you are a parent (or any supporter) who wants change and/or your child has experienced bullying or harassment by students and/or teachers please contact Parents4change2017@gmail.com.

I cant tell if your post is sincere or not. If you are a mother and you were being honest with your feelings, I feel you should have never been born.

I'm always amazed that parents who had really bad parents perpetuate the same cycle of carelessness they received. These are the same parents that want free health care, free this, free that, etc etc - Sickening.

IF you parents feel like these schools aren't safe, than instead of bitching like babies, go after the drug dealer and their shitty parents. All your doing is bitching at the school district, which they wont do shit.

Yes. Parents should take the law into their own hands. They should def get themselves arrested over it.

Do you suggest an organized effort, or lone wolf type?

Thanks for sharing your special knowledge about a complex issue.

Why blame th schools? You think kids are using drugs in the classroom, hallways, or parking lot? Sorry, this isn't happening. If it does happen, the kids get caught and face the negative consequences.

Kids get involved with dugs because there is something wrong within the family. Lack of parenting. Helicopter parents. Single parents. Etc.

Why is the school at fault if your kid goes to a party after a game and does drugs?

Tired of people wanting schools to do everything to raise children.

I have a senior at Patriot. Very happy with the school and her safety.

FYI: Parents of minors that deal drugs should get in trouble with the law as well.

Yeah
They put the 35% in their own section of the school. The school hands fentanyl out like candy. And I believe their is actually a tray full of it in the lunch line.

35% of 2900 kids is a lot.

That's what I was afraid of, school involvement. I didn't think they could get above 30% without the stealthy hand of the lunch lady. Do you know if they let adults eat lunch with the kids?
