Animal Welfare League of Arlington mischaracterized trained, collared, tracking device equipped hunting dog (doing his job) as "stray" in press release!

From Animal Welfare League of Arlington's press release;

12/26/11 — An Arlington resident driving through Henrico County, VA picked up a stray beagle wearing a collar with ID tags and a tracking collar and brought the dog home with her to Arlington County where she turned it in to AWLA. The shelter found the owner from the information on the ID tag who said he was hunting with his dog and the finder must have picked it up while they were out. The shelter verified the current status of a rabies vaccine and released the dog to a friend of the owner who agreed to drive it back to Henrico County. If you find a stray dog, it’s best to turn it in to a shelter in the jurisdiction where you found it.

Why would the AWLA reccomend approaching and transporting strange dogs anyway. Isn't there a real safety concern there?

Arlington being what it is, I assumed the county would've given the beagle section 8 housing, public assistance, and unlimited unemployment benefits.

What a bunch of idiots over at the AWLA;

From a press release

-8-12

"4300 block N. 26th St.

A man called the shelter to report he had found a copperhead snake behind his wine refrigerator in the basement. An animal control officer was dispatched and determined it was a non-poisonous young corn snake. The officer removed the snake and released it into the wild."

Note to AWLA; no snakes in the world are "poisonous." Snakes can be "venomous," but not poisonous. Poison is ingested and effects the body through the stomach, venom, on the other hand, is injected into the blood stream. Every third grader that has ever been to a nature reserve knows this. Jeez!

I once volunteered there and they make a lot of mistakes. Here's is another

Snakes are venimous, not poisonous!
