“These new rankings explore 224 cities to find the best places to live in the U.S. based on crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities,” said a Niche spokeswoman. “Our team of data scientists analyzed data from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC, and other sources to calculate these rankings.”

Their criterion was average household income, percentage of population who held a degree, unemployment rate and other metrics dumbasses like yourself can't fully grasp.

Except unemployment rate those are dumb criterion. In fact, the first one actually equals life being tough for those who don't make a six figure salary. Good criterion should include:

The less people who own SUVs the better
The more frequent, reliable, quick (aka trains vs buses) and accessible public transit is the better.
The higher the walk score the better
The more protected bike lanes the better
And the better the quality of life for those who are not just rich or upper middle class, but for those who are middle class or poor the better.
